"This hostel is a lovely place. The building is a beautiful, recently restored, hundred-year-old log home with a rustic feel yet with completely modern conveniences. There is a modern kitchen area and a lounge with leather sofas and a large flat-screen TV. The hostel is located just down the road from the Nosal ski area outside of Zakopane. "First Class! - I visited Zakopane for skiing in March 2009 and stayed at Flamingo and I can't fault it. Everything is brand new and it has been decorated to a high standard. Flamingo is spotlessly clean, the beds are comfortable, there's individual lockers in the rooms (bring your own padlock), and there's a nice kitchen and common room area. There's terminals with free internet or you can use the free wi-fi if you bring your own notebook pc. The staff here are very friendly and hard working. "Crowded and disorganized - However, traveling in two, in the evening, when we were back to the hostel, there was someone in one of our beds, who did not want to leave. The hostel was so crowded they put people sleeping on the floor and the showers were constantly busy. The following day, breakfast room was crowded, the seats were not enough, and guests devoured the available food. "Don't stay here if you're looking for any degree of comfort. There are several major problems with this place. Firstly, it's miles out of the way, it's a good four miles so you'll have to catch the bus everyday which gets mighty tedious, especially four times or so times a day. The beds are made from foam and have plenty of fleas (we woke up with bites on our arms and legs). Dinner is only served between 5 and 6, however the food was good. "This hostel was odd. I agree about it feeling lonely, dark, and empty. If you've ever seen the movie "The Shining" the feeling was just like that. It felt haunted. It felt like it had a history, It wasn't some cookie cutter comfort inn. It felt real. The reception people were nice, but also a bit mysterious. We trusted them with our bags overnight as we spent thirty-six hours up in the Tatras with only our small backpacks. Everything came back intact.
