"I stayed at this hostel when it was called Steve's Backpackers in 1998. It's a VERY friendly place and I was made to feel welcome. It's a bit of a walk from the bus station but as a backpacker I'm used to that. The hostel is at the top of Asylum road on the left and it is really pretty quiet. Smoking is outside but I'm used to that as well. The staff were very helpful in telling me where to go and handed out city maps that were easy to follow. I recommend this nice hostel to everybody,...
"I thought this was a lovely place to stay. The staff were lovely, and I recommend this place to anyone, especially families." … "This hostel was very clean and comfortable. The staff were great and friendly. In addition, Stephen was phenomenal!! Don't forget to take his walking tour. Stephen was the best tour guide I had on my Ireland trip. He knows Ireland, its history, and its people and he has a nice sense of humor. I had lot of fun, and I could have listened to him for hours. It was...

"We stayed at this fab place which is an extension of the Derry Independent City hostel for only one night. Wish it was longer. It is simply fabulous with great decor, a fantastic kitchen, free breakfast, internet, and a great movie selection. Would recommend it!" … The Dolce Vita Hostel is an annex to Derry City Independent Hostel specifically designed for couples travelling on a budget … YOU MUST CHECK IN AT DERRY CITY INDEPENDENT HOSTEL, 44 GREAT JAMES STREET. Derry's awesome, and the music scene is wicked!

The city walls and the murals are a must to see. The museum is fantastic and takes a while to go thru it all. The local pubs are very nice but the clubs the younger crowd frequent are a bit on the wild side (I'm an old guy).
