Stratford Hostels

Stratford -- yet another town most travelers only seek for its gas stations and supermarket. The only ones who stick around tend to be those who lost too much time traversing the many bends of the Forgotten World Highway and are in dire need of some rest at a Stratford hostel. Too bad for you passers-by! This town actually has some really pretty, nontouristy surroundings and some nice attractions, such as a pretty glockenspiel jingling several times daily or a whole historic town of more than twenty buildings with original furnishings and much more. But admittedly it also has the kind of infrastructure that travelers need once in a while and that is otherwise hard to find in this area -- it is the last stop to gas up for a couple of hundred kilometers to the east. And there's also another spot no tourist can pass without stopping, as it sells unique souvenirs (specializing in items made out of opossum skin). It's best to stick to those attractions as the town itself is not that attractive, especially due to the heavily trafficked main road cutting right through it.

There is a very limited selection of budget accommodations in town! At least that makes choosing a Stratford hostel easy. But don't despair -- a nice option it is. And cheap too! It's a caravan park with some cabins and dorm-cabins a bit hidden to the outer edges of town but still easy walking distance. Or if walking isn't your thing, there are bikes for hire!
