   "With its huge Mexican cartoon on the wall, nobody will ever miss Cactus Jack! It's just two blocks away from the tourist information centre and restaurants, but far away from the noise. The Wall is centrally located in Rotorua and has three floors of rooms. The rooms are simple and clean with mixed dorms. The toilets are clean but could be closer to some of the dorms. "Hot Rock Backpackers is a popular hostel in Rotorua and one of the main stops for Kiwi Experience and Stray Backpacker buses. It's part of the Beyond Backpackers group and has a good location as it is two blocks from the main part of town and right next to the Kuirau Geothermal Park. Similar to other Beyond Backpackers hostels, it offers dorms, triples, doubles, twins, and singles. Some... "Brand new hostel. Everything is sparkling new and spotless. Maybe some would think it a bit clinical but I like clean and new. I stayed in an en suite double room. Great facilities. There is an excellent kitchen, reading area and TV room, and a very friendly and helpful reception. It's only two blocks away from the main shopping and restaurant area. It's one of the best hostels in New Zealand... "We had a fantastic stay at Lyons Lake Stay. It is spotlessly clean and furnished to a very high standard. It is a beautiful and peaceful location. Cheryl went out of her way to sort out excursions for us and her organic breakfast was delicious. Wonderful hostess who cannot do... "This hostel is not very good. You have to pay for everything! Internet is 2NZ$ per half an hour, lockers have to be paid with 1NZ$ per closing it (just like in train stations, when the coin falls when you open the locker), you do not have constantly warm water (goes from ice cold to extremely hot), no soap in the bathroom. I expected to have better accommodation in New Zealand as in South..."The Lakehouse Hotel is a ten-minute walk from the bus stop, but most bus drivers will let you off almost outside it if you ask them nicely. Although it is called a hotel, it has a couple of dorm rooms, most of the facilities a hostel does, and charges hostel prices.
We stayed in a double room, which was all that was left when we arrived, but it was a good price. The room has a view out...  "THE best hostel I stayed at during my four months in New Zealand! Microtel Rotorua is located in the central business district, a stroll away from shopping, the Lake waterfront and Rotorua’s best Restaurants. Our central location makes this a great place to stay for... "The Spa Lodge is a small, friendly hostel located in a central location in Rotorua. From the outside, it looks a little rundown and it's hard to see the hostel sign from the street, so keep a good eye out. There is twenty-four hour access to the hostel, but you must check in before reception closes around 8 unless you've made previous arrangements.

The Location
It is a fifteen-minute walk from the main bus station and well worth the walk to stay here. An airport bus can drop you off at the doorstep on request.
