88%  "The aptly named Backpackers Hostel is an ideal budget choice for travelers to San Cristobol de las Casas, Mexico. Located just five minutes' walk from the beautiful Temple de Santa Domingo and the Municipal Market, and ten minutes' walk from Zocalo, the cities main sites, eating places, and nightlife are well within walking distance! Unfortunately the main bus station is on the other side of town, and while within walking distance, heavy backpacks may call for a taxi. For those prepared...

Fun, night movies and Tony and his girlfriend's Italian food were amazing (try their lasagna... just do it). Thanks again and see you next year P.s. To get there just download the map on their Web site and enjoy." … "Oh, I love this place. I just left the best restaurant-hostel on the f***ing planet. The Italian food is great there (just ask Tony to cook for you) and the place is unbelievable....
90%  "Best place we have stayed in Mexico - This was an epic hostel. We arrived at night and were greeted by the friendly family that runs the place. They set us up with a map of town and a list of things to visit. The place was immaculately clean with a really large open courtyard where you could read or get on their Wi-Fi internet. They also have a little common room with a TV. The rooms remind you of being in a mountain cabin and are very basic but comfortable. The kitchen is very nice, and...

83% "Posada Mexico is a tranquil hostel -- airy and open, with beautiful gardens/common areas. The location is good. You could walk from the bus station (but it’s not too expensive to take a cab) and it’s quite close to the center. The staff/owners are warm, welcoming, and accommodating. They have free internet that is reasonably fast and lots of books that you can borrow or exchange. They have a DVD player -- you have to pay for it, but if you do, you can take it to your room, which...

"Where are we ? How to get to LAGRIGUA We are 70km from the new International Airport Tuxtla Gutierrez (Capital of Chiapas), where there are daily connecting flights from Cancun and Mexico City. There are 24 hour taxi and collective mini-bus services to San Cristobal. The journey takes about an hour. LAGRIGUA is near to the church S. Domingo , Barrio de Mexicanos , Calle Brasil #31. You can take a taxi (which at the moment costs 18 pesos) or for those of you who enjoy walking, it's a 20min...
"Hi chicas, chicos, San Cristobal is a very nice relaxed colonial town. It's very easy to go around, everything in a walking distance, even bus station which is only 15 mn away from center. There's a very good and famous artisanal market, a very big fuit-vegi market which is very good to enjoy, just fresh and cheap staff you can cook in MiCasa. The mayan medicine museum is very cool, good movies (cultural) and nightlife muy chida, live bands playing everywhere ;-) 'Mi Casa' is a nice little...
62%  "This hostel is a super clean place with large rooms and comfy beds. Nice, friendly staff and hot water. Cheap." … "The hostel looks really nice. I stayed in a four-bed room without a window. It smelled a bit. The mattresses were fine so I slept good. The worst thing was that we had NO water for most of our stay there! NO water in the showers, but worse was NO water to flush the toillets. You don't want to imagine how it looked/smelled the next morning." … Benito Juarez No 2, Centro...

San Cristobal is the most magical destination in mexico. The nature alone is enough to seduce you, but on top of it, you will meet the most wonderful, humble people, beautiful (and very affordable) artesenias (crafts), delicious food, amazing architecture, and overall tranquility. If you are fed up with the "Cancun" travel scene, visit San Cristobal, you are in for a special treat.

San Cristobal de las Casas is such an amazing town filled with bright colors, friendly people, and a variety of music. December couldn't have been a better time to visit considering all of the holiday festivities. It is definitely worth time spent traveling. Don't miss this beautiful oasis.
