Takayama city is a beautifully preserved city with numbers of old wooden houses dating from the Edo period. Must-see tourist spots such as the preserved area and the Morning market can be accessed easily.

It lies along R41, only 10 minute walk from JR Hida-Ichinomiya Station and close to Mondeus Skiing ground and Norikura Skyline. You can visit some historical places or climb Mt. Kuraiyama. We are within the suberb of Takayama city but this is the best place if you are looking for great nature that is still close to hirstorical sites and attractions.
There are only 13 Japanese guest...  "The Tenshoji Youth Hostel is located within the Tenshoji Buddhist Temple. The hostel is about a 20 minute walk from the station and bus terminal. This is a pleasant walk through one of the main streets of Takayama, Yasugawa Street, and past several temple complexes. The hostel is set off the street but is signed. The tourist information centre opposite the station can provide a map to the hostel.
