"When you arrive in Santorini, chances are you will be picked up at the port by a staff person from the Youth Hostel Anna. Just watch for the Youth Hostel sign on the lefthand side as you get off of the ferry. It can be an overwhelming experience as there are many people waiting for the ferries to come in and trying to persuade you to stay at their hostel/pension. The hostel is located in a central location in Perissa Beach, Santorini. It is only a ten-minute walk to the beach, an amazing...

Santorini Island Travel Tips & Suggestions

Santorini is the nicest island in Greece. You have to visit the volcano and Oia sunset. We also walked to Ancient Thira on top of the mountain. I highly recommend Santorini for your holidays.

I wouldn't suggest Red Beach -- it's small and packed. We went to see it and left -- no parking, too many tourists. Akrotiri was closed unfortunately, but i have been thirteen years ago and it was good. We rented a car for 50 euros but it is very hard to get around (no street names) so I wouldn't recommend it. Fira was a little too busy for my liking, but Oia was in my opinion the best part of the island. If you go, you should stay for at least five days (we only stayed three days, it was not enough).

If you visit Santorini, you're lost -- you will be in love with the island forever. I stayed there last summer and it was very hard to leave. The capital, Fira, is small but full of life, with its typical white houses; cobbled little streets; bars with delightful terraces where you can sit down and have a "frappé", delicious yogurt or an ice cream; beautiful little churches; and Greek people talking quietly in front of their houses. The peaceful atmosphere lives in harmony with a cool nightlife with lots of good restaurants, pubs, and discos. And of course, you have to visit the town of Oia to see the most spectacular sunset I've ever seen in my whole life. If you're planning visiting Santorini, don't doubt it, do it!

I just got back from Santorini earlier in June. It is a very, very nice place especially Oia, where you can see many white and blue mixed buildings and sunset as well.
