Speyer Hostels

Speyer is a small town in Rhineland-Palatinate and and is one of Germany’s oldest cities. It is divided into four main parts and is dominated by the Speyer Cathedral which is on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

If you are looking for a hostel in Speyer, try to find a place in the eastern part (Speyer-Ost) which includes the old city center. Staying in a more remote area is more challenging since public transport is limited, especially on weekends and public holidays. If arriving by train, there are frequent connections to Mannheim and Karlsruhe.

Speyer’s main attraction is the cathedral which is centrally located in the heart of the city. Start your tour here and be amazed by this majestic building. If you are an early riser, you can attend a Sunday service at 8 am. From here, take a stroll around the old city center and experience the medieval architecture. There are also a couple of small art and history museums of extraordinary quality. If you are interested in history, especially clerical history, Speyer hosts some excellent clerical libraries which are open to the public. Also take some to to enjoy one of the numerous little cafes serving apple strudel and hot chocolate before returning to your hostel.
