Münster Hostels

Münster is the cultural centre of the Westphalia region and the site of the signing of the Treaty of Westphalia ending the Thirty Years' War in 1648.

The city is divided into six boroughs. If you are looking for a Münster hostel, the most convenient location would be Mitte which is the geographical heart of the city and contains the historic city center and most major attractions. Mitte is surrounded by the five other boroughs: Nord, Ost, West, Süd-Ost, and Hiltrup. If you are on a budget, it would be better to look for a Münster hostel in one of these since Mitte is the most expensive location.

Münster is served by Münster-Osnabrück International Airport which can easily be reached by train. Getting around the city when you stay in a Münster hostel is not a problem because there is a comprehensive public transport system. You might even consider taking a bike since Münster is also known as the capital city of bikes. The city is quiet, flat, and there are special lanes reserved for bikes. In the old city center, however, the best way to get around is to walk.

While you are staying in a Münster hostel, we recommend that you take a walk through the old city center and admire the historic architecture, especially the numerous churches which dominate the city. Visit the Baroque palace and stroll around the botanical garden. See an exhibition at one of the museums, such as the Westphalian State Museum of Art and Cultural History, the City Museum (Stadtmuseum), the Mühlenhof open-air museum which depicts a typical Westphalian village, or the Pablo Picasso Museum of Graphic Art which is devoted to the graphic works of Pablo Picasso.
