Osnabrück Hostels

Osnabrück is the third largest city in Lower Saxony and and is known for being where one of the many treaties involved in the Peace of Westphalia was signed.

The city is divided into 23 boroughs. If you are looking for a hostel in Osnabrück, the best location would be Innenstadt which is the geographical heart of the city and contains the historic city center and most major attractions. Other decent boroughs to stay at include Weststadt, Westerberg, Gartlage and Fledder. If you are on a budget, it might be better to look for an Osnabrück hostel in one of the more outlying boroughs since Innenstadt is the most expensive location.

Osnabrück is served by Münster-Osnabrück International Airport which can easily be reached by train. Getting around from your Osnabrück hostel is not a problem since there is a comprehensive public transport system in place. You might even consider to take a bike because Osnabrück provides you with a very bike-friendly environment. The city is quite flat and there are special lanes reserved for bikes. However, in the old city center, the best way of getting around is to walk.

While you are staying in an Osnabrück hostel, you should take a walk through the old city center and admire the historic architecture, especially the numerous Baroque and rococo churches which dominate the city. Visit the famous city hall where the peace treaty of Westphalia was signed, stroll across the medieval market place, and admire the castle. Go for some retail therapy on the main shopping strip Grosse Strasse and see an exhibition at one of the numerous museums, such as the Felix-Nussbaum-Haus, or the Kunsthalle Dominikanerkirche.
