The people are about the friendliest I've ever met -- some locals we met actually took us to Oktoberfest (45 minutes by train) and we had a most outstanding time! However, the Schliersee area is a vacation area for Germans, so don't expect to find too many people who speak English, but most people there will do anything to help you, especially if you make an effort to speak German, and SMILE!
