HI - Karlsruhe Hostel  "We stayed here in September, rocked up in town at 10:30 p.m. to snatch the last two beds. The hostel was clean and efficient. The showers worked ok, though they were not particularly "pretty" showers (they reminded me of a prison camp). But they worked, which is what counts. Everyone was already in bed by 11 p.m., and all up by about 6 or 7 a.m., which was a bit of a shock for us. Breakfast (included) was great, a big selection with cereals, yogurts, breads and cheeses. Nightlife is not special, but there are some places with eating packages designed for students that are tremendous and cheap. If you are a guy and want to find a girl, forget it -- the university is mostly technical, so loads of competition! Comment by Jensen Karlsruhe is a great midsized people, about 250,000 people live there. You can find a huge palace and many cultural things to do. Nightlife is ok, too. And Karlsruhe is one of the warmest cities in Germany very close to the Rhine River, the Black Forest and the French Border (all within 30 minutes).
