Tampere Hostels

Tampere is a city in Pirkanmaa, Finland. Situated near Näsijärvi (Lake Nasi), There are currently a few Tampere hostels for you to choose from. Tampere is the biggest inland city in all of Scandinavia and the third biggest city in Finland. In the 21st century, Tampere has consistently been #1 in the polls when asking people where they want to move. The city was founded in 1779 by the famous Kustaa the Third, and today the city has over 210,000 citizens, with a large student population.

Tampere is served by it's own airport, and there is a very functional public transportation system available, with buses and trains that you can use to reach your Tempere hostel. The main area of the city is small enough to walk around, but you should utilize the public transport if you want to see the suburbs.

Hostels in Tampere are mostly centered in the main city area, and are of good quality (if a bit pricey). Many Tampere hostels will provide maps and plenty of activities to do around town.

Tampere is home to the famous amusement park called Sarkanniemi (Särkänniemi with scandics). Sarkanniemi also hosts the well known "Nasinneula" (Näsinneula), which is the highest observation tower in Scandinavia. The city also hosts a number of churches and museums (also the Moomin Museum and Spy Museum).

If you're into culture, there's plenty of options. The Tampere Theater, TTT and Comedy Theater, among others, are very well known and easily worth the time. There are clubs and galleries to see and many festivals to enjoy during the year (Tampere Jazz Happening, Short Movie Film Festival, The Flower Weeks, and so on). You can also enjoy a nice cruise or enjoy the oldest public sauna in Finland (called Rajaportin Sauna).
