"Better than expected. - I have to say it was one of the friendliest that i have been to in some time. The staff were fantastic and made you feel very welcome indeed. The beds were decent enough and the kitchen was always clean. There was free tea and coffee and people made an effort to be friendly too. "Slightly above Dump! - The "Hostel" is above a pub with working class clientele (very much so) near the old whole sale markets of the city. After the markets moved, it apparently didn't pay anymore. The eight spare rooms above (facing a busy thoroughfare) were given a coat of paint (never mind the cracks in the wall) and bunks put in. As this was done quite recently they are in reasonable condition. This also goes for the carpets and sheets. Unnecessary items like door knobs have been dispensed with.
