Canterbury Hostels

Canterbury is a university town located in the district of Kent in southeast England. It is a great town for a stop of a day or two to explore what the town has to offer. Many areas of the town have been designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites, so it's worth just going for a wander around the compact main town and admiring all of the historic buildings and facades. The must-see attraction that Canterbury is known for is the Canterbury Cathedral, which was the site of Thomas Beckett's murder in 1170 and has since been a pilgrimage for many Christians around the world. Other historic sites include St. Augustine's Abbey, a Norman castle, and the city wall built during Roman times.

Canterbury has two train stations (one in the east and the other in the west), which makes it easy to get here from other cities; but make sure you know which one you are arriving and departing from because they service completely different lines and it's a twenty-minute walk between them. Canterbury also has a coach and bus station, which is close to the east train station. Canterbury is also a nice place to base yourself for taking day trips to places like Dover.

There are a couple of Canterbury hostel options, both of which are near the Canterbury East Train Station as well as the bus station. This area is also only about ten minutes from the main town centre, which means you are close to shops, pubs, clubs, and all of the city's attractions.
