Cardigan is a small town on Prince Edward Island located on the famous Confederation Trail. It is abundant with different attractions such as the ship building museum and different arts and crafts stores. The town is also abundant with fresh produce from the local farms during the summer months and it is worth a trip out to some of the farms or to the local Cardigan Farmers Market for the fresh and amazing food that they have on offer here during season. Also check out the amazing seafood, as it is some of the best that you will find in Canada. Only a short drive out of Cardigan is the Brudenell Provincial Park, which is home to some nice scenery and hiking if nature is of interest to you.
The town has amenities such as grocery stores, a post office, and fuel. There are also cafes and restaurants here for enjoying the local produce as well. For more amenities, the major center on the east coast is Georgetown and it is only a short drive from Cardigan. In Georgetown you will also find some interesting things to do and is well worth a visit for a few hours.
Hostels in Cardigan are located fairly centrally to all of the amenities and close to the Farmers Market for food. Make sure that you do your research into when the tourist season of Prince Edward Island starts and ends to enable you to make the most of your trip. Many of the businesses, including the cafes, close down for the season when school goes back and the tourism dies down. To make sure you get the best of the food and attractions here, it is best to come right in the middle of summer during peak season, but make sure you book your Cardigan hostel early.
