Miramichi, one of the larger towns on the east coast of New Brunswick, is not well known for its tourism, but it is still a pleasant town to visit. Given that it is also one of the larger towns on the east coast of New Brunswick, it is a good place to stock up on supplies, as there is a mall and a lot of shops in the downtown center.
Of the touristy things to do here, you can take a boat tour to Beaubears Island to learn about the local Arcadian history, and during the summer months, there are a few festivals. Just out of Miramichi is the Kouchibouguac National Park, renowned for its stunning beaches and scenery. You can rent a kayak for the day, go hiking, or just relax on one of the beaches here for the day. There is a visitor information centre as you enter the park off Highway 134 where you can get information on the best places to do these things and other activities that they run in the park on a weekly and seasonal basis.
The hostels in Miramichi are a bit of a way out of the city center, and so are not easily accessible if you do not have a car. For the amenities in the surrounding area of your hostel, ask at the desk; otherwise, if you have a car, the town centre is abundant with all of the things you may need.
