Tennant Creek Hostels

"Grateful for a bed for the night! - When we arrived in Tennant Creek it was 2 a.m. on a Friday night. The local bar was spilling out drunk customers on to the streets, who were being pulled off each other by policemen! So we were glad that the hostel owner kindly picked us up from the bus stop and took us to the hostel. The only hostel in Tennant Creek, it was fairly basic. The toilets and showers were outside in a little unit, right outside the rooms. The rooms were clean and cosy, although we did find a dead huntsman spider in the blind...  more »

"The Safari backpackers YHA is actually made up of two buildings. The hostel is the first building, while the reception and a separate motel are in the other building across the road. The hostel lies in quiet surroundings (like anywhere in Tennant Creek), but there are some basic supplies at the reception. The condition of the hostel as a whole is not bad. The place is clean and the kitchen is small, but it's enough to cook a meal. The showers are nice, and there is a towel available at each shower. There is a nice sitting area outside...  more »
