When Australians hear the word Bega, they automatically think cheese -- this town is home to the famous Bega brand of cheese. You can visit the Bega Cheese Heritage Center and sample some of the most popular types of cheese. Once you have had your cheese fix, it will be time to work off all of those calories by taking advantage of some of the amazing beaches within the area. The beaches here are just pristine and some of the most stunning natural features within the area can be found at the Mimosa Rocks National Park and the Ben Boyd National Park. There are all kinds of activities along the beaches here such as swimming, canoeing, fishing, whale watching, and sea kayaking. There are also some very stunning forests inland that you can explore with a hike or go mountain biking. Some of the popular national parks inland are the Biamanga National Park and the South Forest National Park.

The downtown area of Bega is home to many cafes, restaurants, and wineries. You can visit the local farmers market and the Old Bega Hospital Market for some of the best local produce that the area has to offer. There are also a few local art galleries within the area that feature pottery, paintings, and wood sculptures and wood work that are worth a visit.
