A beautiful city! It was a great surprise to know Montevideo and I recommend everybody to do the same. You won't regret it.
Montevideo does not allow smoking in enclosed spaces -- all stores, restaurants, cafes, and buses. Gaelic Cafe on Rincon/Ciudadela has a good upstairs for a late afternoon coffee. Parque Laroche by park Rodo and the park at Vazquez Ledesma have weekend markets.
Planet Montevideo Hostel in Montevideo … The best hostel I´ve ever stayed in. Very helpful and friendly staff. I would definitely recommend this hostel and hope to come back again soon.
Red Hostel Montevideo in Montevideo … Red Hostel is amazing! The staff are the greatest, it is clean, trendy, and a really fun place to hang out. I can't say anything bad about it...absolutely stay here if you are visiting Montevideo.
Red Hostel Montevideo in Montevideo … This hostel is totally new, with the best atmosphere and best location. Just go!! You are going to enjoy it.
Red Hostel Montevideo in Montevideo … one of the best hostels in south america. central location, extremely clean, nice colors, one of few hostels in latin america where the personnel speak foreign languages. Very beautiful terrace on the top floor.
Red Hostel Montevideo in Montevideo … I love this hostel. It's spotless, beautiful, in a great location, and the friendly staff put up with me AND my twenty-two bogan Aussie mates. What more could you want?! Don't worry -- this place is not generally full of large groups of Aussies -- it was a special occasion.
Red Hostel Montevideo in Montevideo … It is the best hostel I've stayed at in my entire life...
HI - Montevideo - Ciudad Vieja Hostel in Montevideo … Great Hostel! Very cozy and also very fun! The house is incredible, placed in the middle of the old town, and also at one block from all the bars and discos. I had the best time and the staff is so friendly.
Red Hostel Montevideo in Montevideo … Beautiful place, i think one of the best hostel in the world.
Planet Montevideo Hostel in Montevideo … They have a problem with men peeping into the womens dorm i was in through peepholes in an closed interconnecting door. Staff taped it up, but evidence of old tape, not putting something solid up to prevent this, and the casual "no problem, i'll get the tape" of staff suggests this is an ongoing problem. Otherwise it has clean showers/toilets with a locking door. Also a strictly enforced rule of silence after 1:30 a.m. There is a small TV room/lounge downstairs, and an eating area, with small tables, two computers, and a very small bar/kitchen area. Breakfast is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. There were mostly men there.
Red Hostel Montevideo in Montevideo … I found this hostel to be expensive. They advertised a bed in the female dorm on this website for US$12. I made a reservation and paid the deposit to find that they charged a $3 service fee, and also, at the hostel they had their own high exchange rate. Instead of the going rate of 22/21 dollars to the peso, advertised in all banks and exchange places, they charged 25. I argued with them to no avail. I have no problem with a place charging 14 or 15 dollars if they advertise it openly. I was expecting to be charged much less. In total I paid about 18/19 for my bed. The hostel was also not very clean and the foams on the bed are very thin.
Hotel Arapey in Montevideo … I loved your hotel.
Hotel Arapey in Montevideo … Nice, clean, centrally located hotel. I also liked the artsy, vintage decor and feel of the place. The staff are very helpful and friendly and I felt very safe having someone at the front desk 24 hours a day.
