Polebridge is the most beautiful place in US. I have not been there since the late 70's, and I have never forgotten the beauty.
I love Polebridge.
Delicious baked goods in the Mercantile! The Northern Lights Salon has great food and great prices! Being at Polebridge is like being on top of the world -- it's gorgeous!
My stay in Polebridge was the experience of a lifetime! If you want to escape civilization and drink up with some great locals, this is the place. Be warned, no electricity and little indoor plumbing. My outhouse had bats in it.
Polebridge … Found myself on a gravel road in late afternoon... spent the night at the hostel with wild deer grazing along the road on the way in... a huge lumber camp wood cook stove for warmth, a battery VCR to watch an old movie until the battery went dead, a huge gas water heater on the roof for hot showers, bunk beds, unique fellowship. Been there, done that... Hey I got the T-shirt! Did I say I saw grizzly and black bear chomping down in the biggest Huckleberry Patch South of town? If you truly want to get away... this is One Real Getaway spot.... J
St. Ignatius Campground & Hostel, Inc in St. Ignatius … It's great, private, with considerate hosts and a lovely small town a walk away. It has hot showers (not always encountered on my trip), a restful environment, and starry nights.
HI - Brownie's Hostel in East Glacier Park … Brownies is great. It's certainly not the fanciest hostel, like some of the ones in Europe, but it's great for an American hostel, and for cheap nights near Glacier it can't be beat. It has standard hostel amenities: showers, bunks, a kitchen, common room, etc. It also has an awesome bakery downstairs, as well as a convenience store section, which is indeed very convenient. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and active in local outdoor activities. There's also free Wi-Fi, which comes and goes (it's satellite based), but is free and fast when it works. I don't really know what else you could want out of a hostel. Sure, it's not a hotel. It can be loud, people play guitar on the porch, the kitchen isn't spotless, and the floors creak. But it's a hostel! As a side note, we did stay at a few other places in East Glacier, and Brownies blew them all away.
Bozeman International Backpackers Hostel in Bozeman … I liked what i saw. was there in July 2005. cool place, nice part of town, friendly staff. i was in and out -- in around 8 p.m. and gone by 9 a.m. the next morning.
St. Ignatius Campground & Hostel, Inc in St. Ignatius … I stayed at this hostel and thought it was really great. The people that operate the place were very polite and accommodating. I wish them continued success in their business.
North Fork Hostel & Inn in Polebridge … Simply amazing. Take time to relax at The Northern Lights Saloon, share some beer and food, and spend time speaking with Oliver at the hostel. Great guy. The peace and serenity of this place should be savoured. The drive is fun. Having traveled the world, this is a must. Ever heard silence? Sit in the wood-burning hot tub at the hostel and watch the Northern Lights and remember you have one life! If you don't get this place, check for a pulse.
North Fork Hostel & Inn in Polebridge … If a person doesn't do anything else in their lifetime he or she needs to visit "Heavens Gate," The North Fork, and spend some relaxing time within John's walls.
Bozeman International Backpackers Hostel in Bozeman … The Bozeman Backpackers Hostel is a great place to hang out, with a very relaxed atmosphere. It is only two blocks from downtown. I have stayed there both in winter and in summer, and there is plenty to see and do. There is great skiing and snowboarding at two local areas, and in the summer there is great hiking, biking and climbing, plus lots of river activities. I would recommend this hostel to anyone wanting a relaxed place to stay. The owner is an Australian, and has a lot of information about the area. It is $16 per night for a dorm bed, and my girlfriend and I stayed in the private room, which was a total of $35. Happy travels.
HI - Brownie's Hostel in East Glacier Park … I have stayed in hostels all over North America and Europe, and this is the best hostel I've ever stayed in! It is a different experience, staying in an old log cabin style building. the store and bakery downstairs was wonderful. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Of course the location is beautiful, and the staff helped me book a tour into the park. My beautiful private room had an extremely comfortable double bed with a handmade quilt. The neighbors were friendly, as were the local dogs. The food in the restaurant was phenomenal.
North Fork Hostel & Inn in Polebridge … The North Fork Hostel is FANTASTIC if you don't mind roughing it a little bit and giving up a few luxuries. Polebridge is a tiny, tiny town. To get there you have to drive about 6 miles over a bumpy dirt road. The town has one store that also serves as a post office and bakery. There is one little cafe that serves delicious homemade meals. In the evening, everyone at the hostel walked to the cafe for supper. Seems like everyone in the tiny town shows up the cafe for supper. Most people sit outside at the long wooden picnic tables. There's no electricity, so you have to find your way back to the hostel by using a flashlight. The hostel is clean. People friendly. Don't forget your flashlight!
North Fork Hostel & Inn in Polebridge … Beautiful! Just beautiful! And everyone is very friendly and laid back. It truly is a real treasure.
HI - Brownie's Hostel in East Glacier Park … Nice hostel, good location, quiet, clean. Downstairs is a convenient store and small bakery. It's worth waiting for the fresh baked cinnamon rolls in the morning!
Bozeman International Backpackers Hostel in Bozeman … Very good hostel with a good price, nice people, and it's well equipped. I do really recommend it.
