Very wonderful place! Right now we are waiting in France for a new trip to this town. We remember the delicious pizzas. Greetings from a young couple of "frenchies" really in love with Sweden, and particularly Ljungskile!! Bye and see you soon... we hope!
HI - STF Göteborg-Slottsskogen Hostel in Gothenburg Fantastic hostel. Probably my favourite. Good facilities. The dorms were big but still cosy and everyone was really nice. The only downside is that you can't really walk here from the centre, you need to catch a tram.
HI - STF Göteborg-Slottsskogen Hostel in Gothenburg An absolute pleasure! The Swedes know how to run a hostel! The dorms were fantastic, very clean of course, with a TV and couch/sofa bed in each one. The breakfast buffet for 50 K is fantastic value! You simply must give it a go, I even came back to Gothenburg from Copenhagen for it!
HI - STF Göteborg-Slottsskogen Hostel in Gothenburg This is the best hostel I have ever stayed at. The facilities were all extremely good, the rooms were clean, the breakfast buffet was great and the staff were very friendly. It was an excellent value for the money.
HI - STF Göteborg-Slottsskogen Hostel in Gothenburg I stayed here over ten years ago, and I still think it is one of the cleanest, most secure and modern hostels. It's great if you want a break from multi-bed dorms. It's in a residential setting, close to the tram.
Gothenburg's Youth Hostel in Gothenburg On a day when every other hostel in town was booked, this place had room to spare. Perhaps a lack of online booking is to blame, or the strange check-in hours of 4 to 6 p.m., but this hostel was really quite decent. Dorm rooms hold six but are not cramped. Showers and toilets are communal, but kept clean. Had no real complaints except for a lack of atmosphere. Oh, if taking the tram, take route 4 and get off at the first stop after the giant theme park. The hostel is well signed and hard to miss.
Gothenburg's Youth Hostel in Gothenburg This hostel is a pretty good place, clean and comfortable. Try to book in advance! Last October, I was lucky enough to arrive there late and find someone who wasn't supposed to be at the reception at that time of the day! There's no place to buzz to, and nobody answered the phone at 7 p.m. when I got there, so I was even more lucky to find a guest who opened the door and let me into the reception.
HI - STF Göteborg-Stigbergsliden Hostel in Gothenburg The Stigsbergsliden HI Youth Hostel is located west of the centre of Gothenburg, and is a short tram ride or a long walk (especially with lots of luggage) from the main bus and train station. Take tram number 3, 9 or 11 to "Stigbergstorget". A number of the ferry terminals to and from Copenhagen and other destinations in Europe are fairly close. There doesn't appear to be a lot happening in the area, however there are supermarkets and other small shops nearby.
There is a clean well-equipped double-kitchen for selfcatering and a dining room with a TV, as well as a backyard area with some tables for eating and space for hanging out. These areas are moderately social and are where you'll meet other guests. At the time of our visit Gothenburg was hosting a major event so the hostel was booked out with families, but it didn't appear to generally be much of a ‘party' hostel anyway.
Dormitories are fairly comfortable and contain up to 8 beds. The hostel has a strange policy of requiring
HI - STF Göteborg-Slottsskogen Hostel in Gothenburg I thought the hostel was excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and I met some nice people. Great value for money. Will be using it again soon.
STF/HI Youth Hostel Gustafsberg/Uddevalla in Uddevalla This hostel was very nice and affordable.
HI - STF Göteborg-Slottsskogen Hostel in Gothenburg Great hostel, it could have been cleaner but it was definitely not that bad. Very nice breakfast and affordable.
STF/HI Youth Hostel Trollhättan/Gula Villan in Trollhättan i stayed here in July 2006, the hostel is nice with friendly helpfull staff,
there is a members kitchen, the building is a well maintained big wooden house with lots of charachter, it's in a quiet suburb with parking and tables in the yard.
its a short walk to the train station. maybe a 20 minute walk to the town.
the local SAAB museum is worth a visit.
HI - STF Göteborg-Slottsskogen Hostel in Gothenburg This was neither the best nor the worst hostel I've ever stayed in. While I didn't think it was actually dirty, it didn't really present itself as clean either. The bed was fine, but the common area and large kitchen had a feel that it didn't get cleaned often enough. Its location next to the park was fantastic and its just a short tram ride into the heart of the city. The breakfast, though not included in the price, was exceptional. Worth a return visit just for the breakfast. The hostel actually occupies 2 different buildings, and I didn't explore much of the other so it may actually be better (or worse).
