I have visited Karlskrona once and loved it so much that I am hopefully going again this year.
Karlshamn … A very pleasant little town that is beautifully situated. The people seem quite helpful and generally seem to speak good English. Unfortunately, most of the shops appear to be clones of similar shops in the other Swedish towns. I simply could not find a butcher's shop anywhere and the sausages available to campers were very average.
Youth Hostel Sölvesborg in Sölvesborg … My family and I had great fun at this hostel and we stayed 5 nights. The self catering kitchen was clean and had every utensil you need. There is a large garden with plenty of outside eating space; there is even a barbecue you can use. This hostel is great for summer and winter as there are plenty of great things you can do around it.
HI - STF Karlskrona/Trossö Hostel in Karlskrona … This hostel is a quite good place to stay in for a few nights. Nice and clean kitchen, bathroom and showers. It's close to the town centre. The walls are pretty thin, and it is of course important to respect the other people in the hostel. To summarise, reasonable prices (170-180 SEK for a bed), clean, and hospitable.
Youth Hostel Sölvesborg in Sölvesborg … It has a small kitchen, maybe good for a maximum of five people. Other rooms were good but there wasn't much space to put your things in the rooms. Having extremely many things to think about, and strict rules from the owner, together with a strange feeling of being watched all the time by the owner, take my mark down to average. More good things about this place were the washing machine and nice surroundings.
