STF/HI Youth Hostel Borensberg/Göta kanal in Borensberg … A great place situated in a former glass factory between the Gota canal and the river. We had a very nice room. Bathroom was located upstairs in our small building, along with a very well-equipped kitchen, two refrigerators, TV, etc. The showers and other bathrooms were a short walk down the hill, and a good Scandinavian breakfast was served at additional cost in the building next to the river. Canoe and boat were available, and people were swimming in the river. There were also a few restaurants in town, about one kilometers away. We rented bikes at the hostel and biked to Berg on a great bike path along the canal one day. A second bike trip to Motala was more challenging with no bike path most of the way. We are sixty-five plus and had a great experience. We would definitely recommend this hostel.
STF/HI Youth Hostel Linköping in Linköping … It is a hostel, priced like a hostel but with the comfort of an hotel. The rooms have airco, a fan, an individual bathroom with shower, a fridge, a individual cooking facility, a television with Canal+ and many other international tv-stations. The beds are good and the breakfast is super (but that's the case in all hostels in Sweden). You get a very warm welcome at the reception and the center of Linköping with its wonderful church and city center is only a walk away. What more do you want?
STF/HI Youth Hostel Vadstena in Vadstena … I stayed here with a group of four people for one night. The good points of this hostel: it is not so far from the city center of Vadstena. When you arrive you get the key of the front door. There is a small common room with TV (only in Swedish), furnished Ikea-style. They serve a good breakfast (but that's the case in all Swedish youth hostels). The rooms are small if you stay with four people. The kitchen has a smell.
