Black Eagle Retreat in Waterval Boven … Absolutely fantastic! Beautiful place, great service. I was 100% satisfied. Definitely a place to revisit when I go back to South Africa.
Graskop Valley View Hostel in Graskop … Great place to stay. It had a great view, it was clean, quiet, and there were amazing lightning storms!
Nelspruit Backpackers in Nelspruit … Excellent, surroundings, and good facilities. If you are going to Kruger this is the place to stop off at on the way. The place is made even better by the friendly staff, especially the legend that is Neto.
Old Vic Travellers Inn in Nelspruit … I had the most wonderful time staying with Dave and Bella. They are the nicest people I have ever met and they made my time there extra special. They also took me on a trip to Kruger Park and Blyde Canyon, which was absolutely fantastic. Well recommended! :)
Funky Monkeys Hostel in Kruger National Park … We stayed only one night in this excellent hostel but it's very friendly, comfortable and the lasagna is delicious!!
Spice of Life Backpackers in Komatipoort … This is an absolutely fantastic backpackers, and I had a great time exploring the Kruger from Spice of Life. It's in a lovely setting and it's a well-run backpackers. Cameron and Yolandi are informative and knowledgeable about Mpumalanga. This is a worthwhile visit and stopover.
Graskop Valley View Hostel in Graskop … Friendly and extremely helpful manager who really knows the area. Small, clean and quiet place.
Old Vic Travellers Inn in Nelspruit … I came in there during easter holiday's with Nomvula the woman i love. we had good good time and the reception we received from Isabel and Dave was excellent. Keep up the good work that you are doing guys. We intend to come back before the end of this year.
Nelspruit Backpackers in Nelspruit … I had a very enjoyable stay at this backpackers. Helen and Jimmy are great company. Would definitely recommend.
Thika Tika in Hazyview … Bugs and frogs were a problem in the dorms. The dorms are also open to the kitchen and living area. The property is beautiful, though. The sounds of monkeys woke me up in the morning. Great, if you like that type of thing, which I did. Nice bathrooms.
Thika Tika in Hazyview … The dorm opens on the kitchen (no doors, a metal thing). A very beautiful estate.
Thika Tika in Hazyview … This farm has a massive theft problem according to the owners - you cannot even sleep with your windows open in the 25 deg C plus evenings. Previously, the door to our accomodation had been broken into from the outside, while the door was still locked - the damage had not been properly repaired. The owners are also inflexible about check-out times, even when the facility is empty. I had to ask them to turn their TV down well after midnight so that we, accomodated in a completely different building could get some sleep - they did not even apologise. I had to make a special trip to the main house to go find my change.
