Did you know that we have a ski resort in South Africa? Tiffindell Ski Resort is situated in the Southern Drakensberg on the slopes of Ben Mc Dhui, the highest mountain peak in the Cape (3001m). The ski/snowboard season is from June through Ausgust/beginning September, 100% snowmaking with some natural pow.
Hi, I live in Empangeni, always have. It's quite a dangerous place, especially the rail area. Just be cautious and never walk alone or at night and you'll be fine! The temperature here is higher than that of any other nearby towns, so come prepared with sunscreen. The heat goes up to 45C with humidity to kill!
We were in St. Lucia early January 2004 for a week. The best place we have ever been. Our two boys loved the place, so much to do, so much to see, so little time. We will be back.
Empangeni is close to Richards Bay, which means that the beach is not far. The town is hot and humid, so check that you stay somewhere where there are air conditioners if possible.
St. Lucia is a breathtaking place with a real community feel to it.
Umkomaas is a beautiful town famous for the "Aliwal Shoal" dive site which is one of the top ten sites in the world.
I visited Durban and Commercial Road is dangerous. I got robbed there. I will never ever visit Durban again. The police are useless.
St. Lucia … I visited St Lucia in 1992 just after my 21st birthday as a part of a University of Port Elizabeth Geography 2nd year excursion. It was certainly a beautiful and breathtaking place where peace and the wonder of nature overwhelms you. It's a haven for the spirit where just being there relaxes your mind. The simplicity of life takes over and you become completely transgressed to a happier state of well-being. I would highly recommend it to anyone. I live in the UK now and miss Africa dearly. One of these days I will return to her and her wonder, especially St Lucia.
Durban … When we went to Sea World we were followed most of the way there. It was very scary and we had to run most of the way. Not fun, but then again Sea World was great!
Durban … It all happens in Morningside, Florida Road Area. The city needs to be treated like any other big city -- be streetwise. Do not walk around the Point Road Ushaka Marine Area. The beachfront is safe to walk around, but do not leave valuables unattended on the beach. After hours, the city runs dry and the night owls head for Florida Road -- restaurants, coffee shops, clubs, and bars. A must is the Botanical Gardens (it's free).
St. Lucia … It's a good time and you can forget about all your troubles -- it's just a heavenly place.
Kwambonambi … I live in Kwambo. Make sure you bring mosquito repellent!!!
