Manila gets a bum rap from a lot of travelers but I have found it to be a great place. Music bars and cafes are open 'till morning in the Malate/Ermita area.
Islas 8817 Guesthouse in Manila … There are only Mr. and Mrs. in this guesthouse. They are very friendly, and you'll feel relaxed and safe like you are at home. They know where to go in the Philippines and are happy to tell you tips to enjoy the places, but not like one of those guesthouses who are pushy to make you join their sightseeing tours. The rooms are kept clean all the time and big enough to have your private spaces even in the dorm. The location is great, too! Just one ride on the Jeepny from the airport. I have stayed many guesthouses in the world, but I really recommend this guesthouse to anyone who wants to enjoy Manila!
Islas 8817 Guesthouse in Manila … This hostel is one of the best I've stayed in. Located in the heart of Paranaque, it's about an hour by jeepny or forty-five minutes by taxi from the tourist areas of Metro Manila, depending on traffic. By taxi only about ten minutes from the Ninoy Aquino airport. The proprietors keep the place very tidy, the rooms are spacious and cool (even the dorm!), and anything you need or want is taken care of twenty-four hours a day. A two-minute walk from street food vendors and a mini-stop convenience store, it's surprisingly calm and relatively quiet inside the hostel grounds, which are locked to outsiders at all times. You can come and go as you please, they will open the gate to let you through whenever you need. Hammocks in the "chill area" with fridges for a great variety of drinks (including cheap beer!), delicious and inexpensive breakfast in the morning and fresh fruit from the trees if you like. The best thing about this place is the people who operate it. Bing is always cheerful…
Islas 8817 Guesthouse in Manila … My son and I were well looked after by Bing and Shim. We stayed twice -- as we arrived in and left the Philippines. The cooked meals provided were very tasty. Every help was given when we needed directions and advice and even before we arrived via email! If you need somewhere to stay relatively close to the airport or bus station I would thoroughly recommend it.
Windsor Inn in Manila … It is the best Inn I ever visited during my stay in Manila. The staff are friendly and hospitable. The price is very cheap. It fits my budget. I saved a lot staying in this inn. Highly recommended for budget conscious, rooms are great for the price. I will always come back in my future visit to the Philippines.
Townhouse Hotel in Manila … Just based on my experience, I have my satisfaction guaranteed when I stay at the Townhouse. I have been staying at the Townhouse ten times a year. I recommend it to those on a low budget for a stay in Manila at a great price you won't regret. It has excellent service, and the staff are very friendly. It's within walking distance to the nightlife, and close to the shopping mall (Robinson Mall). Enjoy your stay at the Townhouse.
Townhouse Hotel in Manila … I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else. There are two malls within a five-minute walk. The local store, which has supplies, is a one-minute walk. A taxi to nightlife spots is 100 pesos—$1.70. And it's a safe area to walk at night. Viva la villa Carolina!
Townhouse Hotel in Manila … I'm a travelor not a touron... I think this place is just fine, friendly relaxed, no luxury (and who wants it, it is not my home)! Happy pleasant ladies, singing while they work, great travel info resouces, relax, these are real people in a real world. Affordable, not far from what you need. I'm staying my first week back in the PI, while I adjust to 12 hour jet lag, and visit a little. Not some artificial box, it's homey!
Four Seasons Hometel in Manila … We enjoyed our stay at Four Seasons Hometel in 111-A Scout Lozano Street, Tomas Morato Avenue, Quezon City, Metro Manila. it was just two minutes away from Cabin Bar & Restaurant of omas Morato Avenue. Surprisingly, this part of Manila is so much fun, so many places, nightlife, foods, bars, from nicest quiet coffee shops to the sexiest bars. The staff there at Four Seasons Hometel were very friendly and helpful. Thanks very much for making our Philippine trip so much fun and memorable! We highly recommend this wonderful place.
Townhouse Hotel in Manila … I always stay at this location when in I'm in Manila. I have been there so much my friends think I live there (I've stayed there about 40 times over the last five years). I find it a great place to meet interesting people from all over the world and the staff are simply great. They are very accommodating in every respect. I read that people find the hostel away from everything. I find it just the opposite. There are two shopping malls within walking distance from the townhouse. Try the beef curry, it the best I ever had anywhere in the world.
Townhouse Hotel in Manila … ive been to townhouse three times a year for four years. ive always been welcomed and the staff always bend over backwards to help you. i have a philippina fiancee and the staff treat her like a queen. the service is good. lots of travelers just chill. if you like to chill and have a cheap stay a good yap with other travelers and be able to have a good meal and a few red horse without the nagging this is for you. bill and lorna are a wealth of information and very approachable although both are very busy. i say try it -- if you dont like dont go back. as for me im back this christmas if theres room this time.
Townhouse Hotel in Manila … I had a great stay, the staff was excellent, very friendly people. I can't wait to return for another visit.
Townhouse Hotel in Manila … The facilities are below average and it's about fifteen minutes walk to the nearest McDonalds or shopping district. There's no toilet paper and they ran out of stock so I couldn't buy it from the hostel and the nearest shopping area was so far... (it was raining badly). But, it is basically clean and cheap (180 pesoes a night). So I shouldn't complain so much.
