Trondheim has the clean, fresh atmosphere of a small city, but the variety and possibilities of a big city. Friendly, but hardy people. Most younger people speak good English.
Oppdal … I visited it and it's a very nice town surrounded by beautiful nature. I had a very nice stay there!
Trondheim … I suggest a trip to Monkholmen, it's only a 15 minute ferry ride away and gives you a great view back towards the city. The guided tour of the island is good fun, the place oozes history.
Trondheim … Røros, a 2 hour train ride away, is well worth a day trip. An old mining town which has been added to the World Heritage list. Beautiful old mining buildings, and you can take a trip down the mine. Beware this is a 13km ride away, taxis charge a fair bit for the journey.
