My family is from there, Stamsund and nearby Valberg. I love the village. I would take a small boat every day and go exploring.
Stamsund A very picturesque little port - but the call with the Hurtigruten is too short. Will have to come back.
Mosjøen My visit in December 2005 for the first time was a great experience for me and I salute everyone there.
Stamsund This is one of the most beautiful places on earth. I visited in '76. I climbed a mountain above the hostel where I was staying, and was fortunate to see the midnight sun.
HI - Stamsund Hostel in Stamsund Although i never went to a youth hostel before, i always stay on campings, hotels, and appartments, i felt at home immediately. It's a cosy atmosphere you get in and everybody was friendly and at ease the moment they walked in. We met people from all over the world, South africans, Aussies, Europeans, Americans and one from Peru. Beautiful place also. If you are going to that direction i would certainly stay here. The owner is very friendly and very easy. Enjoy
HI - Stamsund Hostel in Stamsund We had the privilage of staying at Roar Justad's Vandrerhjem in Stamsund in 1996 and 1997. This is the best place in the world where world peace can be started and staying forever! Thanks, Roar and international friends from Stamsund. After all these years my husband Richard Brown and I are still yearning to go back, at the tender age of 50+. Fantastic experience for every age and every worldview.
HI - Stamsund Hostel in Stamsund The best hostel in the world. a place where you feel at home in the real sense of the word, leaving your stress and your pain away and finding the right way to go on, keeping that peace in your return to normal life for a long time. I've been there four times, and I'm planning to visit again Roar as soon as possible. I met friends from different countries and Michele (my husband) and I understood there that our friendship could become love.
HI - Stamsund Hostel in Stamsund I will never forget my stay there. The hostel is really messed up, don't wait for clean or tidy areas. but its the most beautiful surroundings ever, the owner is so lovely, you could be there ages and not get bored -- it's relax, it's sun, it's peace, it's magic.
HI - Stamsund Hostel in Stamsund This hostel is one of the most amazing places you'll ever have the honor of being a guest in! In this place there is a feeling unlike any other. You meet people from every walk of life, see the northern lights at night, have time to yourself, share a table with so many different nationalities that you can close your eyes and all have common ground. It's an experience all in itself. If you are considering coming here...don't think twice about it. Just go...and relax in Stamsund!
HI - Narvik Hostel in Narvik Initially, it was bad. I had reserved family quarters (daughter, thirteen; son, fifteen; and myself) a week before, from St. Petersburg Russia. The directions were easy enough from the train station, which had spent the day bringing us from Ulea, Sweden, 17JUL2004. We already had altitude, so it was a fairly level kilometer walk to the Victoria Hotel. The receptionist gave us a key and directions to the separate cabin, and wanted to call a cab for us. I foolishly declared that we could walk --it was all downhill! Unfortunately, we could not find the site, despite a good hours search. Exhausted, we returned to the Victoria Hotel, where we were once again offered a cab. This time I absolutely deferred, declaring that we needed to stay in the coed dorm. It was wonderful and well worth it. We caught the bus to Bodo the next morning (early), and they opened the cafe early for us to eat a delicious meal. During the overnight, I washed our clothes and was extremely successful with 50% of
HI - Stamsund Hostel in Stamsund This Is the best youth hostel in the world and yes, world peace will start from there someday I'm sure. We were planning to stay for three days but stayed for two weeks. Roar rocks!
HI - Stamsund Hostel in Stamsund I stayed here about six years ago. I initially planned a two-day stop. But did not leave for two weeks. I became part of the furniture, cleaning the hostel, going fishing, cooking the fish. The highlight was when Roar treated me and some others to a slice of his personal salmon supply, sawing a steak off the frozen fish, with a rusty saw. Brilliant. Oh and the aurora borealis five nights in a row! Loved it.
HI - Stamsund Hostel in Stamsund I stayed here in 1984, and in reading the other comments it seems that nothing has changed. I can't tell you how good that makes me feel. I have young kids now and my hope is that they'll get to meet Roar and stay here too.
HI - Stamsund Hostel in Stamsund my friend a I just came back from our trip to Northcape. We stayed in different Hostels in Scandinavia, but Stamsund is simply the best and Roar is a nice and funny person. We had a little cabin and wished to be there at this moment and for longer. We went fishing and caught enough Cod to cook for all the guests at Stamsund Hostel. I can recommend this place, with its marvelous surrounding from all of my heart.
HI - Stamsund Hostel in Stamsund Unsurpassed! I'll never forget one autumn week in 1987 filed with new friends, fishing for dinner, baking homemade bread, climbing hills, viewing the Northern Lights, and swimming! The spectacular location, cozy atmosphere, and Roars friendly mischief combine to create a unique home away from home many of us will remember dearly all our lives.
HI - Stamsund Hostel in Stamsund The best hostel I've ever been to, in the world. Roar, I'd love it if you can read these words some day. I'll be back, with my wife and daughters.
