Merida is called the White City. The Paseo Montejo is a popular avenue that crosses all of the city, it has beautiful French-style houses, full of trees, and lovely people, delicious food, and relaxing atmosphere.

Hotel del Peregrino in Mérida … Great hostel! If you're looking for something a little nicer and quieter than the typical youth hostel this is the place. Very friendly and& helpful owner from the U.S. Good location near downtown. Would definitely go here again.
Hostel La Candelaria in Valladolid … They just opened the hostel again after a total remodeling. I loved this place so much. The garden is tropical and extremely well maintained. Breakfast was great (try their honey!) and the owners very friendly and helpful. I rented a bike to go to the Dzitnup cenote, which is amazing. Best hostel by far!
Mayan Backpackers in Mérida … It was the best place I visited. it was clean, safe, cheap, the service was really amazing, and my friends and I really felt like we became friends with the owner and the staff during our stay!
Hostel La Candelaria in Valladolid … Clean and full of color, with an amazing garden, La Candelaria is the kind of place you fall in love with. The staff was genuinely nice, the location was great, and if you think it can't get any better just wait until you try the honey and the coffee served for breakfast.
Hostelito in Cozumel … I stayed at this place and I really enjoyed it, its cheap, clean and quiet and its located just round the corner from the main square where all the bars and restaurants are. The staff here were really helpful and friendly and they can help you sort out any tours you might want to do. All in all a great base to explore Cozumel from.
Hostel Zocalo in Mérida … this place rocks. i had a wonderful five days there! the owner, moises, is the nicest guy. and i found the rest of the staff to be delightful (oscar is not as grumpy as he seems). i had nothing but joyful experiences there. i'm giving it five stars for the following five reasons. the location couldn't be better -- it's on the zocalo. the beds are amazing. the air flow was wonderful -- the surrounding windows are 3 meters tall! the breakfast was the best buffet i've ever seen at a hostel. the owner is the real deal. stay there and have a wonderful time! i can't wait to go back.

Nomadas Youth Hostel in Mérida … This is the best hostel we stayed at in Mexico. It's really cheap, with beautiful private rooms, a lovely common area, and offers cheap trips to the Mayan sites.
Hostel Ria Celestun in Celestun … It's a nice place. So quiet and really nice!! They have a cyber cafe that is a great place, and they have delicious coffee!! And the breakfast is cheap and it's very good. The marmalade is homemade and it's wonderful!!!
The Nest Hostel in Mérida … It's clean, very close to the bus station with nice staff. The atmosphere was great, very familiar with guests from all over the world. I would always return!
