if you go to Isla Mujeres, you should try to eat on the restaurants by the beach and eat a shrimp cocktail or ceviche! It's delicious. Go to Caracol and Playa Tiburon -- great views!
This is an amazing spot! You can relax and have fun! Playa del Carmen is a piece of heaven.

Chetumal Hostel in Chetumal … I stopped in Chetumal on my way to Belize and did right -- a nice, quiet hostal with very good service. I had to leave very early, but they prepared breakfast and even brought me to the bus station.
UH Urban Hostel in Playa del Carmen … A good hostel with great security. Very close to beach and 5th Ave. Very clean and friendly staff. It has a nice lounge area and cable TV. Tables and chairs upstairs by the "kitchen" which isn't really a kitchen. Don't count on cooking great meals there. I would definitely stay there again.
Rancho Tranquilo in Tulum … This place is a great place to stay while you're visiting the Tulum area. It's a bit of a hike to the beach, but there is a hostel run bus twice a day. If you time it right, you can get to the ruins at Coba in just over an hour from the front gate using the ADO bus. There are tons of cenotes close by and the guys at the hostel can hook you up. The place was clean, friendly, and really nicely laid out groundwise. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The only negative thing I can think of is that our cabana had a very saggy mattress. Good breakfast in the morning and a generally mellow crowd of people over twenty-five. Don't come here if you just want to party and make noise. Come here if you want a good place to hang for a few days.
The Cancun Nest Hostel in Cancún … I stayed in twelve beds dorm for two nights. Owner family is very kind and room is not so bad. But my bed has bed-bug.
Ida y Vuelta Camping in Holbox Island … It was wonderful. Excellent accommodation for backpackers who want to share their feelings, stories, emotions, travel tips. Great staff and optimal location. Clean and cosy. Just great. Good job guys! See you in summer for the whale shark season.
