I have been going to Palenque since 1971. Find a comfortable spot and melt into the air.
San Cristobal de las Casas is such an amazing town filled with bright colors, friendly people, and a variety of music. December couldn't have been a better time to visit considering all of the holiday festivities. It is definitely worth time spent traveling. Don't miss this beautiful oasis.
San Cristobal de las Casas … San Cristobal is beautiful.
San Cristobal de las Casas … San Cristobal is the most magical destination in mexico. The nature alone is enough to seduce you, but on top of it, you will meet the most wonderful, humble people, beautiful (and very affordable) artesenias (crafts), delicious food, amazing architecture, and overall tranquility. If you are fed up with the "Cancun" travel scene, visit San Cristobal, you are in for a special treat.
Maya Bell in Palenque … Mayabel is super cool.. In my opinion, close to being Paradise. The restaurant people are not too friendly. Besides them, Mayabel is great.
Casa Babylon in San Cristobal de las Casas … Lots of parties!
Hostel Las Palomas in San Cristobal de las Casas … This was an epic hostel. We arrived at night and were greeted by the friendly family that runs the place. They set us up with a map of town and a list of things to visit. The place was immaculately clean with a really large open courtyard where you could read or get on their Wi-Fi internet. They also have a little common room with a TV. The rooms remind you of being in a mountain cabin and are very basic but comfortable. The kitchen is very nice, and there is free toast and coffee in the morning. I parked my car on the street outside at night and had no problems. The location is excellent as well being about a five-minute walk from the absolute center of town. Most of all, the staff were really nice and hard working and cool. If you go to Mexico, you have to go to San Cristobal de las Casas, and you have to stay at Hostel las Palomas. My buddy and I have driven from San Francisco, California, down through Guatemala, and this hostel has been the highlight of our trip.
Rossco Backpackers Hostel in San Cristobal de las Casas … We loved this place. the staff were really accommodating and friendly and spoke great English too. It was clean and the people staying there were a nice crowd. The garden area was a great way to chill out in one of the hammocks or round the fire at night and the TV area always had people watching DVDs etc. The rooms were clean, although a little dark, but nice touch, especially if you get one of the smaller dorms, which have en-suite bathrooms too and are much more spacious. Ours even had a balcony with our own hammock! The free internet and the free breakfast was a nice touch. Just wish we could have stayed longer as this was a nice place to be!
La Casa de Jose in San Cristobal de las Casas … Very clean hostel close to bus terminal and el centro. Highly recommend satying here. Great location, staff is very friendly with large common area and kitchen and nice outdoor patio on two floors.
Youth Hostel San Cristobal in San Cristobal de las Casas … The hostel looks really nice. I stayed in a four-bed room without a window. It smelled a bit. The mattresses were fine so I slept good. The worst thing was that we had NO water for most of our stay there! NO water in the showers, but worse was NO water to flush the toillets. You don't want to imagine how it looked/smelled the next morning.
Hostal Maria Bonita in San Cristobal de las Casas … Clean, Excellent atmosphere, nice chimney, great staff, good vibes. I recommend this hostel to everyone.
Hostal Plaza Central in San Cristobal de las Casas … The setting in the hostel was nice althought there was no fresh air. The bad thing is that my discman has been stolen out of my backpack in this hostel while I gave my backpack for storage to the front desk.
