Riga Hostel in Riga … Excellent location in the heart of Riga's Old Town for this very new hostel. The kitchen is quite big. The cleanliness is remarkable and the staff is really kind and helpful. I have not been in any other hostel in Riga, but I would definitely recommend this one.
Friendly Fun Franks Hostel in Riga … This is the best hostel I've ever stayed in! Frank and his staff are so helpful and friendly. We got a free beer on arrival and personal advice on which bars to go to. I borrowed a hairdryer, and they let us do live art and sleep in the lounge. We had the best roommates. It's very newly refurbished, very clean, warm, with excellent bathrooms, kitchen, and Sky TV! Location is great. Bars are within a two-minute walk and the main shopping area's about five minutes away. Stay here and you will not be disappointed; it's great! I can't wait to go back. :o)
Knights Court Hostel in Riga … I loved it. Place is fairly basic but the rooms are large and clean and tidy. It's a twenty-minute walk to the city but you can catch the bus for 20 UK Pennies per trip. Staff are always friendly and helpful. I adore Riga and this hostel made my holiday even better.
HI - Riga - Profitcamp Student Hostel in Riga … This hostal is in a great location. The staff are friendly and the hostal is very organized and clear about the services it offers. The rooms are clean and the bathrooms as well. The cleaning lady is constantly around. The price is good and the rooms are also very comfortable, no noise around neither from the street nor from other people. It's a good place to be and rest after a long day of walking and sight seeing.
HI - Riga - Turiba Hostel in Riga … We stayed at the Turiba for 10 days and all we can say is that it is a very good place to stay if you are a tourist in Riga. The toilets and showers are always clean and the receptionists are friendly. The connection to the city center is very good. By Trolley Bus 8 it takes about 15 minutes. Another possibility is bus number 40 to the bus stop. It is a little farther then the trolley bus but it also takes about 15 minutes to center. TURIBA is good place!
Posh Backpackers Hostel in Riga … Good location. Close to bus station and old town Riga. Clean facilities. Dorms have sturdy wooden bunks and doubles are roomy. The sign is hard to see from street so look carefully! Tourist office at bus station can give you a map.
Riga Old Town Hostel in Riga … Great location, fun atmosphere, and clean facilities. Not for people with bad legs, though; the stairs might be difficult even with big luggage.
HI - Riga - Elizabeth's Hostel in Riga … I really enjoyed this hostel. I met many new friends and enjoyed the good nightlife. I like to club and there are lots of clubs here. I also like the Latvian men. They are very sexy! I hope to come back soon.
HI - Riga - Argonaut Naughty Squirrel Hostel in Riga … I stayed here in the summer of 2004. It's true, it could be kept cleaner, the showers are very small, and the room I stayed in for 4 persons was very, very small. But, it's a great place to meet people if you are travelling alone. I had a great time with the people I met there. There is a nice living room, and the staff were friendly when I was there. (Although they were a bit stressed with all the visitors, and yes, when fully booked they will offer to let you sleep on the floor in the living room, but I thought it was at a very reduced price.) The location is excellent. It had the fun factor that I look for when staying in a hostel, so I was happy with my stay there.
HI - Riga - Backpackers Hostel in Riga … The stairs are steep if you are drunk. It is noisy because of the train station and buses, etc. Good location. It could be very busy in the summer. The price is reasonable, the staff friendly. It's nice to have a bar but the club next door can be noisy.
Red Roofs Inn in Riga … For three rooms -- one with six beds, one with eight, and one with ten (or maybe it was twelve or fourteen -- it was large) there is a total of one men's bathroom/shower and one women's bathroom. They are connected so you cannot use a toilet while someone else showers. The rooms are also all connected so in order to get to my room (the six-bed) I had to have two keys -- one to the huge room and then a second to mine. I was the only one staying in this room the first night, and the large room had a group of less than six. It was still unpleasant waiting for the restroom and I cannot imagine what it would have been like full! The second night I was moved to the eight-bedded room and there were two other women there with me. This time I needed only one key but the room was also connected to the six-person room, which now housed one male. This was fine, just confusing and it wouldn't have felt safe if both rooms had been full. Overall, the hostel has a great location and was fairly…
Hostel RPRA in Riga … Upon first arriving at this hostel, we found about seven other people sitting on the steps outside waiting to get the rooms that they had reserved. Inside the office was an extremely unamused and stern woman who insisted that the "hostel did not accept new visitors on weekends." So, the seven people waiting outside were apparently sitting there dumbfounded, trying to figure out what they were going to do and where they were going to go for the night. When we showed her our printed reservation, which noted our paid deposit (from Hosteling International), she finally relented and allowed us into a room. If I had not been traveling with a friend who spoke Russian, however, I believe we would have be turned away. My friend kept saying to her, "but you see, we have our official documents, so you should let us in." The room itself was kind of dusty and dirty. The bathroom was ok. But the shower was absolutely vile, and it seemed that an unctuous hirsute porcine beast had showered…
