Other Gran Canaria - Coast in Galdar … Went with some friends diving in nearby Sardina. Expected the usual (on the usual cheap end of the scale!) -- a bit threadbare with a concierge breathing down your neck -- not at all in this case! All very nicely put together and homey -- didn't meet the owner but he must use it as a holiday home. His local man on the spot Watcho was very helpful and accommodating, so much so that after a few days on the coast he arranged us to spend a night in another place up in the mountains half of which was caves! Locals very friendly, not touristy (no one speaks english). The place is part of a sort of a holiday resort that looks it got half made in the fifties, right on the coast, bit desolate in places but there are a few bars and restaurants in the local town of Sardina and the local city Galdar's not far away (though apart from bars and festivals there's no real nightlife). All told I'd recommend it to anybody.
