Backpackers Hostel K's House Hakuba Alps in Nagano Fantastic hostel. Great atmosphere, staff, facilities -- I could go on. K's House is seriously the best hostel I have ever come across. It is so clean, warm, modern, well equipped and with super friendly and helpful staff (who speak great English)! We stayed in the Japanese room with tatami mats and futons (western style dorm rooms are also available), using the shared bathroom facilities. The bathroom was always spotless, and the heated toilet seats helped us through those cold winter mornings! The communal area is downstairs, while the bedrooms are upstairs, so noise from people partying on all night was never a problem. The kitchen is well equipped and again, very clean. There were DVDs and a playstation, as well as books, magazines, free internet, and games. It is located only five minutes' walk from the station, and eight minutes' walk up the hill to the ski lift. Overall K's House Hakuba was a pleasure to stay at. I would not hesitate to stay there again!
Kaze-no Yasuyado in Matsumoto-shi Kaze-no Yasuyado was a wonderful hostel. It was clean, the view was beautiful, and the owners were extremely friendly. I would recommend this hostel to anyone I knew.
Backpackers Hostel K's House Hakuba Alps in Nagano I particularly like this place as it is so clean, bright, and tidy -- the cleanest and brightest place to stay in Hakuba!
Hakuba Alps Backpackers in Nagano We stayed here oct. 2007. The place had a very homey feel with a well equipped kitchen and TV area. The owners were so friendly, even offering us the chance to go with them to see a local festival. The surrounding scenery was beautiful and it made a nice getaway location from the hustling bustling cities like tokyo and kyoto!
Shimaya Ryokan in Nagano What a fabulous place...and SO affordable. The public onsen (bath) in the hotel is nicely appointed...everything you need is right there. There's even coffee service in the morning. The owner and his wife are very concerned for your pleasant stay. The room made me feel like I was stepping back in time (that whole town and surrounding area did, for that matter). The beds they laid out for us at night we amazingly comfortable...the quilts are SO fluffy and warm. Mr. Simya drove us around the and even dropped us off at the trailhead for the Monkey Onsen (which is certainly not to be missed if you are in the area). I highly recommend this Roykan!
Shimaya Ryokan in Nagano Soaking in Shimaya Ryokan's baths was a wonderful way to start my Asian vacation. Yamato-san and his wife were wonderful hosts. I enjoyed two breakfasts and one dinner -- all very enjoyable.
Wind Jacket in Hakuba Only Stayed here for two nights as we were passing through, but enjoyed our time here. The guys there were really fun, partying and having snow fights. Free breakfast was included. Had a little trouble hiking around finding the place as google maps didnt recognise any search terms we put in.
Pension Hayaokidori in Nagano I stayed here over New Years in 2002/2003 for four nights!! It has a very friendly staff, and it's close to ski resorts and trains!!! I would suggest you stay, as the guy speaks English!! GREAT PLACE!!
