Kobe Dears Backpacker House in Kobe … Clean and tidy, with comfortable facilities incuding excellent kitchen. The proprietor was very helpful by providing lots of info about Kobe. The location was good if you like a quieter area, but still a short commute to the downtown.
Kobe Dears Backpacker House in Kobe … We're doing a two-week trip of Japan and came to stay one night here in Kobe. The place was great! Very nice, family neighborhood, not difficult to find if you follow the directions. Took us less than ten minutes with luggage to reach it. Place is very clean and open, felt like we were guests at a friend's house not at a hostel. Has free internet, you can use their kitchen to cook, put things in fridge, etc. Bathroom, shower, sink area were all very clean. Slept in the four-girl dorm it was clean, had locker for each person with lock, and it was big enough for all my luggage. The beds are large size and you get a nice thick blanket to use. Everything is made with wood, gives it a nice feel, and it is all very sturdy! The whole place was just very comfortable, the owner and his wife are nice and friendly, and if we hadn't had to take a bus from Nagoya to Tokyo the next day I think we would've stayed longer!
Kobe Dears Backpacker House in Kobe … Really nice place. The lady who runs it is about the nicest lady ever. She puts tons of care into it, and is so kind and accommodating.
Hotel Kobe Shisyuen in Kobe … Very nice business hotel in a quiet and convenient neighborhood. An excellent value with clean, comfortable rooms and Internet service. Close to Harborland entertainment area and a short train ride to downtown. I will probably use it again.
Kobe Guesthouse in Kobe … No hassle, and it's quiet. However, it's actually located in one of Kobe's suburbs, Tarumi ward, about 20 minutes by train (no worries for JRPass holder though) and still 20 minutes by foot from the train station. I stayed here a couple of nights in early June 2005. My dissatisfaction was that I initially booked through this Web site a "two-bed mixed room." Upon check-in I was given the six-bed dorm. I didn't really want to complain at this stage, as the price was already standard for a dorm (what do you expect at 2500 yens) and there was no other cheap accommodation in Kobe. However, the bottom line is this seems either a "convenient" overlook or simply a scam by the owner. What is furthermore cleverly failed to mention is the facility: it's a basic common bathroom-cum-washroom consisting of a shower, a toilet and a trough-like sink to clean your teeth. Surely this would be better off unknown to any unsuspecting guest. The owner isn't exactly overly friendly. He's a…
