Jerusalem is the greatest place I have ever been in my life. You can find the historical places side by side with the modern places.
New Palm Hostel in Jerusalem Since I first visited Palm Hostel two months ago, I have been a frequent guest here during my extended stay in Israel. Every time I come to Jerusalem I'm welcomed by my Palm Hostel "family" - that's what they've become! The place is affordable, clean, very friendly, offers free tea and entertaining company all day. Family owned and run. Come join us!
HI - Jerusalem - Beit Shmuel Hostel in Jerusalem I stayed in Beit Shmuel for five days when I traveled to Israel with my class from school. This was the only hostel we stayed in, as we stayed in four-star hotels for the remainder of our trip. I can easily say that Beit Shmuel was my favorite place to stay, and the view from it is spectacular at night. I would recommend this as a place to stay for anyone travelling to this beautiful city.
Citadel Youth Hostel in Jerusalem We weren't expecting very much but were very impressed once we arrived. Very well located inside the Old City, the hostel is next to the Arab market and quite close to the Western Wall without being far from Jaffa Gate. It was cheap and we definitely got more than our money's worth. The room we stayed in was quite big with an en suite shower and toilet and although there was no air conditioning, it was permanently cool due to the stone architecture of the building.
The guy running the place, Chris, was not only friendly and hospitable, but he was incredibly helpful in providing advice on how to get around, etc., and never hesitated to fulfill any of our requests (including helping us find another hostel in Tel-Aviv for our last two nights).
Next time I come to Jerusalem I'll definitely be staying there again!
Al-Arab Youth Hostel in Jerusalem This place has nice people once you get into the swing of things.
Jaffa Gate Hostel in Jerusalem i stayed at the jaffa gate hostel in january 2006, it was a nice and clean place i will come back.
HI - Jerusalem - Yitzhak Rabin Hostel in Jerusalem This hostel is really nice! I was kind of suspicious when I booked it, but when I arrived I was surprised at the quietude that surrounded this place. It has a nice parking lot underground and the guards are friendly. Inside, everything is clean, the rooms are cool (we didn't even need the air conditioning) and clean.
The breakfast buffet is amazing. There were so many things, that one didn't know what to take first. Ok, because Pessach began soon after our visit, we were served matza on the last morning. Let's say there are better things in this world. ;-)
My conclusion: When I go back to Israel, I'll stay there again!
Bet Bernstein in Jerusalem It is kind of hard to find, because actually the entrance is not in the Keren Hayessod but in the Gershon Agron, a street crossing the Keren Hayessod. Clean, safe, nice location (you can walk to the old city) but just a little expensive for my taste. 110 NIS [New Israeli Shekels] per night with breakfast in a four-bed room. It is good for people who have just started traveling or are in Jerusalem for the very first time.
New Swedish Hostel in Jerusalem This is a very nice, but small hostel in the old city near Jaffa gate. They have some double rooms which cost 60-160 NIS and dorm beds in a small dorm which are 25 NIS [New Israeli Shekel]. They offer free tea and coffee and use of satellite TV. The management has nice people. The location is perfect and I had a great time.
Heritage House in Jerusalem A very intimate and nice place. Recommended.
Louise Waterman Wise Hostel in Jerusalem I stayed here as part of a group outing. The place is really new and nice with wonderful views of the Jerusalem hills. Note that it is in a religious neighborhood and somewhat farther outside the city center (you need to take a bus or cab to the city center) but is right next to Mount Herzl and Yad Vashem.
Petra Hotel & Hostel in Jerusalem It has a good atmosphere. You can meet lots of friendly people from around the world. You may need to bring a sleeping bag because there may be fleas in the bed sheets. However this is the glory of having such a cheap hostel to live in! I have been to other hostels that are cleaner, but I keep returning to the Petra because the atmosphere is so warm and welcoming.
Saint Mark's Lutheran Hospice in Jerusalem I stayed here a few years ago before tourism declined drastically. It was fantastic. The rooms were clean and the roof garden is a fantastic place to have a snack and look over the rooftops of the Old City. The location could not be better.
