Kells Hostel in Kells The owner is friendly and can tell you everywhere you need to go in town -- he'll even try to help you if you are trying to find work/a place to live. Everything is clean, kitchen is large though slightly understocked, and you are right across the street from a supermarket and shopping center. Not only that but the town is lovely (I lived in Kells for six weeks) and has lots to do for such a small place. Stay here if you know what's good for ya.
Slane Farm Hostel in Slane We only stayed one night - but it was a great night. The kitchen was great, the room had very good beds, and the countryside is beautiful. Our best experience -- we asked about a tour of Hill of Slane, we were told to go into town to the Pub and ask for Mike and he would take us there. That was a hard request to just walk in a new environment and ask for Mike -- but we did and he was there. He put us into his car and took us on a complete tour of Slane and its beginning showing us through a field by the highway the first castle built there by the Flemings and then onto the current Slane Castle, then into town and showed us the building of the town, as well and the Hill of Slane. He was just full of info that made our trip such a wonderful experience. This tour took us back to the 400s in the beginning stages of Christianity in Ireland. It was a highlight of our trip to Ireland.
