Varanasi is wonderful -- a great place to visit.
Shanti Guesthouse in Varanasi … at the rooftop restaurant i meet superb people from everywhere, the room was ok, the toilet flushes. i paid so less money, 200 rupies per night -- unbeatable! the food was very good, and the sight from the rooftop excellent. the internet connection something around seven hundred kbit per second. finally, insects, like ants, are everywhere in india. if you don't like it, you better go to one of the five-star-rating-best-in-town-hotels.
Shanti Guesthouse in Varanasi … The room I stayed in was like a prison cell with no windows with natural light! There was a terrible smell from the bathroom and I had to use the outside toilette as mine did not flush properly. The owner promised me a better room the next morning as I had requested a room with windows with natural light. Come the next morning the owner told me the room would be ready at 12. Come 12 another "helper" tells me,"Sorry Madame, we have no room with a window. It is full." I got very angry and told them not to make promises if they were not 100% sure! I found a better room only five minutes walking distance away, but continued to frequent the Shanti GuestHouse rooftop restaurant because I had originally come there with friends who were not as picky about jail cell rooms as myself, so they had ended up staying on there. They charge 40 rupees and hour to use their slow computers that often have insects and ants crawling around all over the area. One time when I was using the internet I…
Aurangabad Youth Hostel in Maharashtra … This place has very strict rules. The gate closes at 10, checkout time is at 9 a.m. (after that you aren't allowed to stay in the hostel), no non-residents are allowed in the hostel, and the "dining" room closes at 8 p.m. I spent three nights there and I was happy to leave. Highly not recommended!
Shanti Guesthouse in Varanasi … We booked to stay here on a recommendation from a friend of a friend. The room, although very cheap, is like a prison cell with the lack of natural light and windows oppressive. Our sheets were filthy when we arrived and when we asked for them to be changed the staff were extremely rude. In general, the staff on reception are very rude and unhelpful. The restaurant upstairs is a nice place to sit, and the food is good, however service is often very slow and the staff unapologetic about it. Would not recommend this hostel to anyone.
Aurangabad Youth Hostel in Maharashtra … Pretty sketchy place, with a decent downstairs, but terrible beds and bathrooms. I highly doubt that they are really a member of YHA. Maybe they had membership when it opened two decades ago, but it's not up to standards now. I called the night before, and they opened the door early (6 a.m.) since I was arriving on an overnight train from Mumbai. You can walk to here from the station; it's about a 30-minute walk.
Shanti Guesthouse in Varanasi … If you want to be ripped-off this guesthouse is the place to be! They have a way of owing you money by saying that haven't got the exact change, then when you ask for it back they deny all knowledge.
Shanti Guesthouse in Varanasi … A cheap guesthouse with a good enough set-up and free river trips which are a major bonus. However, our stay was ruined by terrible staff service. Not only was food over two hours late, but staff were bored, disinterested, and downright aggressive when we complained. Their attitude failed to make us welcome and left a very bad taste in the mouth. Avoid it.
Shanti Guesthouse in Varanasi … Not happy at all with guesthouse. When we arrived they had only one room left and it was really expensive. We took it anyway and it was extremely bad value -- the shower was caked in limescale and there were ants all over the place. It wasn't worth half the price. The hotel manager is completely unhelpful and rude and a rip off merchant. Their so-called book exchange is an excuse for them to charge a fortune for the privilege of making an exchange. The electricity was off in the hotel most of the time so we couldn't even use the air conditioning we'd paid so much for.
Hotel Kamal in Agra … After my travels throughout Central and South America , now i am on my trip to India and Nepal. I recently stayed at Hotel Kamal in Agra India and the stay turned into an experience that thoroughly exceeded my expectations and has prompted me to drop you a line. The stay wasn't just an exchange of money for accommodations, it was a little piece of home. We all know, despite how exciting traveling is, we sometimes can miss the comforts of our own home which I found at Hotel Kamal threw the comfort of my surroundings and the kindness of the owner Sandeep Arora. I surveyed all of the different types of rooms prior to check-in and they should no longer be referred to as simple and clean. Each room now has its own persona, twenty-four-hour hot water, cable television, telephone in rooms, and renovations for the roof top restaurant are in the plans. Meals on roof top restaurant was great. Market, bank, ATM, internet cafe, and post office all are on walking distance. If you couple all of…
Ganpati Guesthouse in Varanasi … the better in varanasi! Clean room, good welcome, happy team, wonderful view on Ganga river, quiet place!
