HI - Reykjavik Hostel in Reykjavík We booked a private room for four--us and our two young children--for the beginning and the tail-end of our two-week stay in Iceland. We were extremely happy with the cleanliness of the whole hostel, the well-equipped kitchen, and the fact that our private room was far away from the dorm rooms--which meant we didn't have to worry about late night party-goers, and they didn't have to worry about children talking and laughing at the crack of dawn. Great price, also. Highly recommended for a small family.
HI - Reykjavik Hostel in Reykjavík Pure magic! This is the best hostel I have stayed in. It's totally what I expected and more. It's clean, and has different lounge areas, etc. I was here in December and it was quiet. I had a four-person room to myself and the en suite showers were grand. It is a decent walk from here to the city center, but if it's not raining then it's a nice walk. Use cold water for cooking; it doesn't smell as bad. The naturally hot water has a sulphur smell to it.
HI - Reykjavik Hostel in Reykjavík I would like to say thank you to Ryan and Matinka, who made my trip to Iceland good. They are the staff of the hostel and I miss them already. I'm going to beat you in table tennis next time I see you, Ryan. This hostel was lovely, and I want to recommend it to everybody!
HI - Reykjavik Hostel in Reykjavík very clean. bit of a walk into the center but one of the best hostels i've stayed in. staff very helpful when booking tours.
HI - Reykjavik Hostel in Reykjavík An excellent hostel, with a nice and helpful staff! It has clean rooms and a cool kitchen. I would love to stay here again if I get another chance to visit Iceland !
HI - Reykjavik Hostel in Reykjavík One of the best hostels i've ever been to -- clean, safe, and very nice. I went there in november and absolutely liked it -- especially the free wireless and well, the food wasn't that bad. I'm looking forward to go back to Iceland soon and if so, i'm staying there for sure.
Salvation Army Guesthouse in Reykjavík Hey! I went to this place two years ago and it was my first time in a youth hostel, and it was definitely an incredible first impression! The sheets were nice and clean, the kitchen wasn't shabby, and the bathrooms were so clean. The shower was so nice, clean, and warm. I got a corner room with 2 others in my family. Very nice! It's also close to a grocery store, the ocean, nightlife, and such. If you go to Iceland, check out the blue lagoon and other thermal pools! But wear a bathing cap at the blue lagoon, or your hair will be gritty from the salt for a few days.
Salvation Army Guesthouse in Reykjavík The location of this hostel is excellent. Only a short walk to tourist info, shops, bars. The hostel itself is basic, and a bit "Old Fashioned" but we had our own toilet and sink in our room, which did make our double room a bit cramped. The showers in the corridor were always clean and the breakfast (which was included) was very good. There was a kitchen but it was very small and reasonably well equipped and during busy times it was cramped. Reykjavik is a beautiful, friendly city although a little expensive. The Salvation Army hostel is a fine place to stay if you dont mind living basic.
Hostel Central in Reykjavík This hostel is located very close to the centre of town - within 15 minutes walk, and also has a bus stop only a minute away, which runs directly into town.
It is set in a multi-story house, in a residential area, so is quite a small hostel (and not the easiest to find). The rooms have single and double beds in them, and sleep upward of 2 in each dorm room. The rooms are exceptionally clean (as is the entire hostel), and are very private.
There is a shared kitchen, but it is very small and has little seating. This is the only common space for travellers. The shared bathroom is very private also, and is immaculately clean - with bath mat, hand towels and never ending hot water.
This hostel may not have a bustling, party atmosphere, but it is a haven for those who wish to have close access to the city, in a quiet, private, well-run, clean and friendly hostel. A refreshing place to stay and relax.
It is privatly run, with the ever helpful and friendly owners also living in the
HI - Reykjavik Hostel in Reykjavík It was well cool! I stayed here on a school residential trip. Me and my mate Claire had a good laugh with the reception staff at 2:00 a.m. when we broke a vending machine! The food was nice and the rooms were cozy and satisfying. It was a nice place to stay for a few nights.
Salvation Army Guesthouse in Reykjavík I stayed at the Salvation Army guesthouse. It's much more convenient than the HI Hostel. Some rooms even had a kitchen. Check it out if you need a place to stay!
Salvation Army Guesthouse in Reykjavík This was a good, honest, unpretentious hostel, which wasn't trying hard to be cool unlike other hostels. It wasn't luxury, but hey, it's the Salvation Army so what do you expect? The location was superb, right in the centre of town, and this means you can stagger home after a late night out without any problems. The dorms were a little small, but only had four bunks in each, and the linen (which you have a one off rental fee for) was comfortable and they change your towel each day. Breakfast was the same stuff in the rest of Scandinavia (all you can eat bread/ham/cheese/jams with coffee/tea/orange juice). Staff were friendly and happy to book trips and buses.
