Espace Frédéric Suisse Hostel in Cahors … We stayed here at the beginning of September 2005. It's really well located, also easy to find once you notice the signpost pointing towards it on the main street (we also asked directions). Cahors is well worth seeing. It has an excellent old town, and we could have done more there if we'd had the time (we stayed one night). The not so great rating is based on only one thing– bedbugs. If it weren't for that, I'd give this place 4 stars, so if the problem gets sorted out then it's a good place to stay (The staff were both shocked and concerned, and gave us an immediate refund on the room.) It may also be that the infestation was only in our room (room 23), which had three beds in it, and what's more they were only in two of those beds, so we may just have been very unlucky. That problem aside: If you stay here, get a meal, the food is INCREDIBLE. We got a fillet of stuffed salmon, beautifully cooked and seasoned, each, plus creamy mashed potatoes and stewed tomatoes. It was so…
Le Mas de Jouas in Villefranche de Rouergue … We stayed at le Mas de Jouas in the worst possible weather of the season and still had an amazing time! The accomodation is beautiful and comprises not only of a traditionally decorated rooms and en-suites to a very high standard but also of a fantastic 'communal type' living area which we mostly used for playing cards and drinking red wine whilst it rained all week! Abbi and Danny, the owners, made us feel welcome immediately and were great company on the evenings that we decided to eat there. The food is delicious and doesn't ever stop coming and is also excellent value with as much wine as you can drink throughout the course of the meal. The location is stunning, a couple of must see's are Belcastel, I can only imagine what it is like in the sun and sans cirque Lapopie which is the most picturesque hillside town, filled with great places for lunch and lots of art/jewelry shops. The location should normally ensure that you have bright sunshine from about April to October and if you…
Hotel Marial in Lourdes … This hotel is nice and close to the major sights. The owners were also very helpful. The room is clean and well maintained.
Hotel Alliance in Lourdes … It advertises family rooms which are just triple rooms. They do not provide cots. They also advertise great views in their sunny rooms. Our room overlooked the car park and the windows were yellow and frosted. All the rooms are very small, basic, and noisy but clean. The hotel itself is quite shabby. The breakfast is basic (no buffet or cereals as advertised) and the bar ill-stocked. But the staff are very friendly and helpful which counts for a lot! All in all it's about what you would expect for a cheap hotel. But the description on this site is very misleading.
HI - Rodez Hostel - Résidence les Capucines in Rodez … Location This hostel is not in the center of town. From the train station, cross the Avenue du Maréchal Joffre and walk a block along the Rue de la Gare to the Avenue de Paris/Avenue Durand de Gros. Walk a block in either direction to a bus stop. Take the Ligne 1 direction Vieille Gare…
