Home Dome in Clermont-Ferrand … This isn't a backpackers/youth hostel as such. It is a tower block with flats which appear to be for students or workers staying for extended periods. Still, there was no problem with us staying there just for the one night.
Centre Pierre Cardinal Hostel in Le Puy en Velay … In a remarkably pretty town in a wonderful area of France. Near to the source of the Loire and a starting point for pilgrims starting out on the St. James Way to Santiago de Compostello pilgrimage. Only large dorms with mixed sleeping and somewhat antigquated if clean showers etc. Breakfast typical french-style baquette and jam but good coffee. Atmosphere, location and friendly staff (not to mention the prices) compensate for very basic facilities.
HI - Le Mont-Dore "Le Grand Volcan" Hostel in Le Mont - Dore … It was too dull.
Suitehotel Clermont Ferrand Polydome in Clermont-Ferrand … I stayed two nights a the beginning Oct. 2009 for a Conference. Positive points -- excellent location in front of the Polydome (Congress centre) and tramway station, a few blocks from the train station, modern design, large TV, both shower and bath in the bathroom. Internet connection each room and computer area in the hall. Only negative points -- average breakfast, the microwave oven in the room did not work.
Home Dome in Clermont-Ferrand … Home Dome is a very big hostel -- it has two wings of twelve floors each and six or seven bedrooms per floor (each with one to five beds), plus two elevators per wing. We had a single room, and for us it was ok.
