Helsinki … Dont't miss Temppeliaukio (Rock Church). It's built up in a rock and looks amazing inside, while from outside it's just a pile of stones and you would never say there's a church or anything else inside. Beautiful!
HI - Helsinki - Stadion Hostel in Helsinki … We stayed here 15-16 JUL 2004. This was an excellent hostel for myself and my two children (daughter, 13; son, 15). I had made the reservation for this hostel less than 48 hours prior, and I think I was lucky to get in here. All of the other hostels were full. We had just arrived from St. Petersburg on the train, and it was extremely easy for us to find Stadion. The directions are simple, the tram is effecient, and food (McDonalds--accepted my charge card) is not too far away if you're starving. The downside was no readily evident, easy use sauna, which is a plus at the other hostels. Regardless, I found this a wonderful place for us to stay! I recommend it to anybody else with family. (In fact, I met another family motor/camping throughout Scandinavia, who are going all the way to North Cape and the islands!)
HI - Helsinki - Hostel Satakuntatalo in Helsinki … Great! Excellent! Superb! Brilliant! The best!
HI - Helsinki - Eurohostel in Helsinki … I stayed here from 7th April 2008 till the 10th April. The staff is genuinely friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, adequately lit, have nice functional wardrobes and working tables. The common areas though functional need refurbishing -- in my case there was a washbasin that leaked down under wetting my feet! The restaurant serves quality breakfast for E 6.70 and in the mornings, saunas for free. In case you're wondering, the bathrooms and saunas are separate for either sex. The location's just excellent. It is a five-minute walk from the Viking terminal and the Nordic Jet line terminal. Cruise boats to Tallinn (capital of Estonia) leave very frequently -- it costs as low as E 41 if you travel on the Nordic Jet Line. The journey by NJL takes just one-and-a-half hours and by Viking three hours (it's a bigger ship). Viking will cost you as low as E 30 (including breakfast). Cruise boats also leave for Sweden. The city centre is a fifteen-minute walk. All in all, I loved this…
HI - Helsinki - Eurohostel in Helsinki … You won't regret staying at this hostel, even keeping in mind Finland's expensive prices! The rooms are beautifully clean, modern, and comfortable, and the hostel staff are absolutely superb--helpful, friendly, and well-stocked with travel incidentals and local info. Public transport makes this place easy to get to, and it has a great location to boot.
HI - Helsinki - Eurohostel in Helsinki … Great place!!! Really close to the city center (about 5-10 minutes on foot), to the tram stop, if you don't like walking;) and to the port (5 miutes to the Viking Line, 10 min. to Nordic Jet Line, 15 min. to Silja Line and Linda Line). Very, VERY friendly and helpful staff. Reception is open 24 hours/day. You can come back to the hostel whenever you want, even very late, because your room key also opens the front door. I am really satisfied!
HI - Helsinki - Eurohostel in Helsinki … I stayed here back in October 2004. It was fabulous. I'd just completed my three-and-a-half-week trip from Beijing by train, and desperately needed sleep and clean clothes. This place was excellent. It's only a short walk from the train station, and was pretty easy to find with my simple tourist map. The receptionist fellow was very helpful and arranged everything quickly. I shared a two-bed dorm with a girl who didn't speak English but we managed to use some sign language and such to effect a reasonable conversation. They have a very nice cafeteria/restaurant area downstairs which was neat and well-staffed. The food was good.
HI - Helsinki - Viaporin Visiitti Suomenlinna Hostel in Helsinki … Was perfect in 2003!
HI - Helsinki - Eurohostel in Helsinki … I stayed for 2 nights. This hostel is great. The staff are so friendly and helpful.
Hostel Erottajanpuisto in Helsinki … This is truly the best hostel in Helsinki. The staff are so friendly (they like hearing about your travel stories), and they are very helpful - especially if you're stuck for things to do. The living room/kitchen area has a lot of character, and the people are very sociable. And you can't forget this hostel's lovely rooms, hot showers, and great location.
HI - Helsinki - Hostel Academica in Helsinki … I think this hostel was great. so much better than the one we stayed in before (Satakuntatalo). We had a modern twin room, which was very clean, spacious, and nicely furnished. We had our own bathroom with a modern shower, a clean toilet, sink, big mirror, and so on. The kitchen was also great, it included a huge fridge, a sink, an oven, and numerous cupboards to store stuff. Plates, glasses and cups were included as well as spoons, knives, and forks. The cupboards were also very spacious, we had two shelves as well as a table for eating and two chairs. The beds were comfortable and the room was also air conditioned. Usage of the sauna and the swimming pool is included in the price. At the gound floor there is a meeting room with computers, TV, another kitchen, and even stuff for ironing clothes. Very cosy place to meet other travelers. All in all I think this hostel is the best choice for staying at Helsinki.
HI - Helsinki - Hostel Academica in Helsinki … We have stayed at this hostel for three nights, at the beggining of july. For me and my boyfriend has been the best hostel we have stayed in. We had a private room with bathroom, not a dorm. The room included linen, towel and breakfast for 32€ each, it's not cheap but for such a clean and confortable place in Helsinki I can say it's very fair. I dont know about the dorms but for a private room it's quite worthy. The staff was also quite helpful and the location was quite good, too. If you look for a twin room with private bathroom, I will strongly recommend you Academica.
HI - Porvoon Retkeilymaja - Porvoo Hostel in Porvoo … Nice, clean hostel. Prices are fare (36Euro/doubleroom). A few metres to go from the bus stations, but nevertheless o.k., because the whole town isn't that big. Nothing to complain!
