HI - YHA Chester Hostel in Chester … It's a very good hostel, almost like a hotel, great breakfast included and friendly staff. The beds creak a bit but the common room is cool (very English). The only problem is that it's far outside the city centre so backpackers beware -- we almost died on the walk to the hostel!
Chester Backpackers Hostel in Chester … Very good clean hostel. Close proximity to train station, near bars and food outlets. Fifteen minute walk from the City centre. Has free tea, coffee, TV, and movies. Excellent. Would stay here again -- has a nice homey atmosphere.
HI - YHA Chester Hostel in Chester … This was our first hostel in England and was a just ok. Not much atmosphere to it and felt fairly unwelcoming. Maybe it was just busy and businesslike. Chester itself was lovely. Location was good -- a fair walk, but easy, to Chester. Unlike Australian hostels, this seemed to stack more in dorms. We have more 'couple friendly' hostels.
Chester Backpackers Hostel in Chester … We stayed here in October, in a large dorm room. Facilities were great — rooms were clean, so too were the bathrooms and the kitchen. Lounge was relaxed, a great place to meet travelers and watch TV. The problem occurred just after we'd gone to bed — at about 1 a.m. a completely crazy guy walked into the room, and proceeded to spend the rest of the night yelling and swearing and getting onto his bed and off the bed. It was disturbing, to say the least. Apart from this incident, it was a decent hostel, although it kind of scared us off.
Chester Backpackers Hostel in Chester … This hostel is ok-ish. It's quite central, the only drawback being that it's on a main road and there are taxis and cars going past and tooting all night, so you won't get the best night's sleep. The room I was in was too cramped and there are no lockers, either. The shower and facilities are pretty cramped too. This place is ok for a couple of nights, but it's not a long-term option.
HI - YHA Chester Hostel in Chester … The place is very old fashioned. There is no TV. There are too many people to a room. I had a nice time but there was not a lot of things to do in the hostel.
