HI - Horsens Hostel in Horsens … Friendly atmosphere, excellent food, beautiful surroundings.
HI - Vejle Hostel in Vejle … Actually in Skibet, not in Vejle, and buses were expensive and not frequent, but it is on the bus route to Legoland. Barbeque pits and self-catering kitchen facilities were provided, and dishes could be borrowed from reception. Nearest supermarket was over a kilometer away and had a very limited selection of food. Fascinatingly space-efficient, fold-down dorm bunk beds were comfortable. Laundry facilities did not work well -- clothes did not dry in the expensive dryer. Staff were extremely helpful and nice. Breakfast was delicious and well-worth the cost.
HI - Kolding Hostel - Danhostel Kolding Vandrerhjem in Kolding … We stayed in one of the newer rooms, in a separate building. It was clean and spacious, with a big bathroom, table and chairs, and lockers (bring your own lock). The kitchen was great. It had everything you need (except a toaster). It's a fair walk from the center of town but I believe there is a bus. Ask about it at Tourist Information. The only drawbacks were that the reception didn't open until 4:30 p.m., and closed about 8, so the poor guy who turned up at 8:30 couldn't check in and had nowhere to stay. Also, the pillows weren't too comfortable. Kolding itself wasn't too interesting but the air was fresh and clean and the town made a good base for day trips to Ribe and Arhus.
