Christiania is absolutely sh*t. If you are not drug addicted avoid going there. Go to Nationalmuseet instead. It's free and definitely one of the best museums ever seen around the world. Supermarkets are not more expensive than in Italy. Two complete days are more than enough for Copenhagen.
Copenhagen - what a grooooooooovy city! Sex in the city!!! ;) And tequila in the tequilabar!
Copenhagen Overall I found this city to be pretty unfriendly. You kind of get the impression that they wish you would just go home. My friend and I got yelled at and called names for buying all of the pizza in the deli. Go figure.
Copenhagen Christiania!!! Pusher street is not what is used to be (summer 2004 now) but still very fun and easy to find weed!
Copenhagen Visit Christiania, it's changed a lot but still has a great vibe.
HI - Copenhagen Amager Hostel in Copenhagen A very nice and clean hostel. But, the directions I had weren't good. If you arrive at Central Station, just go outside and take bus 30, going to towards the right of Tivoli (the amusement park across the street) and look for the Bella Center stop. This hostel isn't convenient if you want a place near the downtown area.
Hostel Belaegningen in Copenhagen I stayed at the Hostel Belaegningen in May 2006 for four nights. I can honestly say it's one of the best hostels I've stayed at -- it's very clean, the rooms are great, and the location was very nice. It's not in the city center, but it's no problem taking a bus or train into the city center. If you want a hostel you can stumble back to after a night on the town, this probably isn't the one. But if you want a place where you can rest and have some relaxation and quiet, I highly recommend this hostel.
HI - Copenhagen Bellahøj Hostel in Copenhagen This was a nice hostel, with great staff, and a really nice park next door to relax in after a day on your feet!
Sleep-in Heaven in Copenhagen I've stayed here twice, and both times it was awesome! The staff is friendly, the bar is good, and the beds are comfy. The only problem was the drunken Icelanders who stumbled in at four in the morning and started singing, but then again, we Icelanders have a reputation to live up to.
HI - Copenhagen City Hostel - Danhostel Copenhagen City in Copenhagen Impossible to miss on the skyline, this is seventeen stories of clean yet dull hostel. It does the job fine, but with over a thousand beds, there simply aren't enough staff, laundry space, internet terminals to go around. You'd think with that many people there it would be quite sociable, but it's the opposite. Too many families perhaps.
HI - Copenhagen Amager Hostel in Copenhagen Nice hostel, clean, friendly staff. There is public transportation (bus and metro) nearby and free parking space. It's a big hostel, so the only disadvantage is that it's hard to interact with fellow hostelers.
HI - Copenhagen City Hostel - Danhostel Copenhagen City in Copenhagen I stayed here from September 7 to 11, 2005.
PLUSES:
The location is perfect, in the middle of the center of Copenhagen. Everything is within walking distance. It is just 15 minute walking (with your bags) from the bus or train station. The hostel is brand new, so there are no squeaking beds, and so on. It is a so-called DESIGN hotel and everything looks perfect — the beds, the tables, and the lamps are in a sort of IKEA-style. I love it! The hostel stands on the riverside and on the 9th floor I had a room with a view. The hostel is open 24 hours a days and that it is nice when you arrive or leave at unusual times.
You pay extra for breakfast (all you can eat) and sheets. In total is not cheap, but Copenhagen (Denmark) is not cheap. And for IYHF terms it is pretty average. For dinner you also pay a lot, but there are many cheaper alternatives in town.
I guess it must be a pretty safe hostel. My Japanese roommate had on arrival a laptop, a digital camera and several cards
Sleep-in Heaven in Copenhagen I stayed at Sleep-in Hostel in 2003 and found it to be pretty nice. I have heard it underwent renovation so it might or might not, depending on what was changed, have improved. When I first arrived I was surprised to find out that it was a huge room with like three hundred beds or so clustered into cubicles that made a room. Originally the place had been an old bread factory that they turned into a hostel. I did, however, manage to get some sleep and my stuff was not tampered with. The major drawback was using the bathroom in the morning and trying to shower -- huge lines of people waiting their turn. Best bet if you plan on using the shower is to wait until you arrive back in the evening when there is less demand for the shower. I did meet some really nice people there and shared some excellent stories. The bar area was really nice. It was also located in an interesting part of Copenhagen, the locals were extremely friendly, I met some locals with whom I travelled to Christiania
Sleep-in Heaven in Copenhagen This is a good place! It's a nice place to meet people, drink beers, save money, and to sleep, of course, after nights at Stensgade 30 and Rust, my favorite night clubs in Copenhagen, which are both very close to the hostel. This place is in a good location; Stroget (the shopping area) is only 1 km away.
HI - Copenhagen Amager Hostel in Copenhagen This is a bit difficult to find if you're on foot or bike. The kitchen was a good meeting place and the place was clean. The reception was very helpful, providing salt for my pasta and a nice pen for my notebook on request. The only complaint is about the bathrooms. They were large and had a bit grimy feeling, which was not helped by an apparent Dutch fondness for smoking on the toilet. There were ashtrays built into every stall!
HI - Copenhagen City Hostel - Danhostel Copenhagen City in Copenhagen It wasn't the cheapest (included all sorts of added fees, but isn't that the Danish way?) and the atmosphere wasn't all that cozy (it was more like a hotel than a hostel), but it was more than convenient. It's approximately 3 blocks from the train station and right in the heart of the city. It being a HI you can also be assured of high quality facilities.
HI - Copenhagen City Hostel - Danhostel Copenhagen City in Copenhagen I was quite wary before staying in this hostel. But I'm glad to report a very successful and enjoyable stay! The counter staff were friendly, chatty, and very knowledgeable, advising us on local buses and local bars. The room we had was unbelievably spacious, especially with some of the bunks being able to fold away -- a novel and excellent idea. The room and bathroom was immaculate and security was always maintained. I suppose being the middle of January and not very busy made things better and I could imagine things getting hairy in the summer time but I have nothing but good things to say.
Individual lights at each bed are invaluable, the internet rate was cheap enough. There are extras like renting of the linen and the HI card but they are not hidden, you just need to do your research. The location is this hostel's best asset. Literally around the block from Tivoli and a little extra brings you to the central station and the central Radhausplasden and Stroget shopping street
