Liberia … If you go in the park, make sure you don't sit on the benchs, you will be a target for bird droppings! But I recommend going to El Paso Real, it's a restuarant in the square and it has amazing food!
Liberia … Another stepping stone between Monte Verde and Playa Tamarindo. Don't eat at the Burger King though, it is quite possibly the worst Burger King in the world.
Hostel La Botella de Leche in Tamarindo … I've gotta say, this is probably the best hostel in Tamarindo. There's a reason why its in the Lonely planet guide. Costs 10 dollars a night but I think it's worth it. rooms house at most four people, which is kinda nice. The owners are great, got a nice common area for watching TV or whatever, bunch of soft leathery couches and bean bag chairs. And generally you can just figure out where everybody's going and party all night long.
Pura Vida Hostel in Tamarindo … I have stayed in this place twice since I came to Costa Rica and I have to say I really like it. Good management, free coffee, high speed internet connection, and a really sweet dog called Makai. It has a big area with hammocks where you can chill, read some books, and meet people. It's clean and well organized and has a good atmosphere. I can really recommend this place for everyone.
JC & Friends Hostel in Tamarindo … After staying at another JC and friends hostel, I was delighted to have the opportunity to stay at this hostel in Tamarindo. The woman that works there was incredibly kind and hospitable, and the guard was lovely to talk to outside the hostel. he told us all about the local wildlife, and there were monkeys swinging in the trees less than fifteen feet away, as well as iguanas scampering around. The hostel is close to many bars and restaurants, especially one called Kahiki, which is right across the street and has good food and a great happy hour. The hostel also has a nice clean pool inside with a rope swing, which was great after going to the beach and walking around in the humidity. I stayed in a private for two nights and the dorm for one night and enjoyed both. This was another great stay with JC and Friends in Tamarindo!
JC & Friends Hostel in Tamarindo … I stayed at JC & Friends Hostel with my roommate and we had an amazing time. The people there were very helpful and incredibly nice. Although JC owns another hostel in San Jose he was spending a little time in Tamarindo to check up and make sure everything was running smoothly. There is a pool right when you come in that has a rope swing attached for jumping in, very fun! The hostel is located within less than five minutes' walking to the beach. (It is also conveniently located to many fun bars.) My overall experience with the hostel itself, the staff, and the location was great. I would highly recommend JC & Friends!
JC & Friends Hostel in Tamarindo … I have to say that the place was great,we had a blast. A friend and I stayed there for almost a week and everything was pretty cool, especially the inside pool after the beach. It is just one block from the beach, we loved it! The people were cool, very helpful with everything we needed. They took really good care of us! Guys, if you are looking for a cool place, you have to check it out, it is really nice and comfy!
Hostel La Botella de Leche in Tamarindo … I stayed at Hostel la botella de leche in 2007. I got off to a rocky start, since my room was not available and the people before me decided to stay one more night. So, I stayed in their "tiny" room, since I didn't want to take their advice to go to another hostel. This was disappointing, since as you know traveling many hours and faced with disappointment is always worse when you are in a foreign country. After this first night, things improved dramatically! I moved into the private room I had booked for two weeks and I had a lovely time. The owner, she is very nice, friendly, helpful, but relaxed. She hails from Argentina. She gets help from her sons and a small staff of costa rican woman who come in daily to clean, plant and paint "moo's moo's". The prices are very inexpensive and my room was lovely and spacious. The bathroom in the house is very nice and artistically constructed. My fellow hostelers were all interesting and came from America, Italy, Germany, and many other…
JC & Friends Hostel in Tamarindo … JC and Friends? More like JC and Victims. JC is completely crazy. When we complained that the air conditioner was not working (which we were paying extra for every night) he completely freaked out and kicked us out of the hostel saying that it was his hostel and he could do whatever he wanted and we were not allowed to complain. He literally chased us out screaming "get the F***k out of my hostel"! and would not let us stay there another night. Besides the completely unprofessional manner of the staff (who would enter the rooms at all hours) the hostel itself was small and dirty. The rooms are overcrowded and has only one bathroom for eighteen people inside, and two more outside the hostel. The bathroom was very dirty with mold, a shower that worked only half the time, and a permanent smell of feces in the bathroom. Avoid this hostel at all costs!
El Punto Bed & Breakfast in Liberia … El Punto is a great place to relax and enjoy your arrival or pre-departure to/from Liberia. The rooms are huge and exceptionally clean and comfortable. Mariana is helpful, knowledgable and goes out of her way to make sure you are accomodated. It is a great place to practice your Spanish with the friendly staff and is close to bus stops and restaurants.
El Punto Bed & Breakfast in Liberia … A wonderful place to stop through or stay for a while in Liberia, Costa Rica! This place is fresh/hip and has a great energy. The staff is superior and everyone goes out of their way to make your experience the best and the hospitality stems from a genuine friendliness. Marianna, the proprietress, has created an establishment where your travel needs and wants can/will be met, offering many of the same services as the expensive resorts as complimentary service or for much less. The rooms are large, comfortable, and clean. But don't mistake this for a large, impersonal resort because it is small, cozy, and conveniently located.
Casa Rural Aroma de Campo in Liberia … Perfect setting and ambiance. To be recommended! A beautiful finca (property) that can be presented in a decoration book.
El Punto Bed & Breakfast in Liberia … Three friends and I visited El Punto in July when we wanted to visit the National Park — Rincon de la Vieja. The hostel is in a great location close to restaurants, main bus routes, etc. Also, it is only 20 minutes from the park. Marianna, the owner of the hostel, went out of her way to make our experience enjoyable. She helped us to plan our hiking trip, and also had good suggestions for beaches, restaurants, and other diversions. If you don't speak Spanish, she knows English! Also, the room was very nice, and for $4 the breakfast was very good. I would definitely recommend other young travelers to stay here!
Hotel Guanacaste in Liberia … Because my experience was so terrible at this hotel, I am in dire need to warn others about the experience i had and what to expect. I stayed at this hotel for the last two nights of my ten-day trip to Costa Rica. First of all, I am from the U.S., and I have traveled the world. With that said, I was not so naive as to arrive at this hotel expecting them to roll out the red carpet for me. I speak English, and enough Spanish to get me by. But not only did the people not speak english at the desk (which is fine by me), they did not care that I only spoke a little spanish and did not make any effort to assist me. When there were language barriers, they just looked at me with an annoyed eye, hoping that i would just leave. Seems as though they do not care whether or not they had my business. Secondly, this hostel is terrible when it comes to customer service. I asked repeatedly if there was anything to do in Liberia, if there were any trips they could help organize, or if there were any…
