Lhasa Riverside Guest House in Lhasa Ric, Will, and I are foreign teachers in China and been to quite a few hostels. If excellent is five stars this place must have six! A new hostel with a wonderful hospitality. Harry and Lizzy picked us up from the train station, took the time to show us around, offer to clean our clothes, and cook us breakfast and dinner. They really made our journey great! The hostel is a little aways from the hustle of the city near but minutes with the 109 bus or a good walk to downtown. Even better it is close to a nice river and going on the roof to watch the sunset is just something else! There are only few rooms so you get to know the guest. Right now the toilets are eastern but well kept. It can also get cold at night but they will give you more blankets if need be! They will make the effort so be nice to them! What an experience in Lhasa.
Lhasa International Youth Hostel in Lhasa Avoid this hostel at all costs. We left our stuff in the room for twenty minutes and even though it was locked and the only people that had keys besides us were the staff, our camera vanished from the room (we had with my wife a private room with bathroom, so no sharing). They didn't want to call the police and they held us all day without any help, support, or solution. We tried to talk to the manager and owner but they said he was busy and couldn't talk to us. Sketchy people with all the bad karma that a place in Tibet can have. Avoid!
