Hostal Campo Base in San Pedro de Atacama We stayed here a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. The hostel is spotless and the showers are great. Pancho the owner is an excellent source of local information too about tours, restaurants, bars. The kitchen is big and fully equipped too!
Hostel Sonchek in San Pedro de Atacama enjoy like in your own city. it's nice, like the whole san pedro. it's a great place for vegetarians, the staff sucks.
Hostel La Florida in San Pedro de Atacama Residential Florida is conveniently located on the road which runs from where the buses stop to the main street in town. You'll find it on the right hand side, about half-way along.
Its a reasonably large hostel with comfortable rooms and great common areas, including a large lounge and an external courtyard filled with hammocks. Hot showers are available however the hot water is sometimes a little erratic so be prepared to settle for a cold shower if you're luck isnt in, eg if the pipes have frozen solid during the night.
Kitchen facilities are available and the hostel has water and other beverages available for purchase. The main drawback with this hostel is the management can be somewhat adversarial, making the atmosphere here less friendly or pleasant that it might otherwise be.
Hostel La Florida in San Pedro de Atacama I spent with my girlfriend two nights in hostal La Florida in San Pedro de Atacama. The rooms were simple, but nicely clean. The toilets were unkept and the mens shower room had only cold and once lukewarm water. There was only once hot water in womens shower. There is one PC with internet for free.
We hired two bikes from the hostel with one spare tire. I had to change it after thirty minutes using the bike. The spare tire blew out in another fifteen minutes. We had to walk back to the hostel. There we were told we had had a bad luck. No refund was provided. The hostal staff was lax. The way we could close our room was not very secure, just a tiny padlock on a loose latch.
Hostel La Florida in San Pedro de Atacama Very noisy and unsafe. The door of the room was supposed to be close but in the night a person entered the room, you can imagine. The kitchen and the bathroom are all but clean. about the shower you need to be very lucky for the hot water. The management and the person in the hostal are not the most friendly.
Hostel Sonchek in San Pedro de Atacama The problem was the Owner of the hostel came to our room at after 10 p.m. on our first night (I think possibly high or drunk as her eyes were quite glassy and red -- and not in the tired way) and informed us that she was incorrect about us being able to stay three nights in the dorm and it was booked the following day. but instead of upgrading us (as any good business would -- and we have had such occur in South America so it is not just a U.S. way of thinking) she asked us to pay the extra 20USD a night to move to a private room (as everything there is very very expensive already). we informed her we could not afford that and then were informed that we needed to find another place to stay. I was shocked and appalled but we did leave. That morning my friend went out to find another hostel as I packed and then she knocked again (this time at around 9 a.m.) to have us pay here right then! Again I was in shock at her rude, greedy, and inconsiderate business practices.
Hostel La Florida in San Pedro de Atacama We stayed here because every other place in town was full. It was more expensive than other places but offered no services. There was no hot water (for three days), there was no internet, even though both were advertised. We were told to wait at the bus station on the day we checked out, even though our bus did not leave until late in the afternoon. Management was extremely unfriendly for no apparent reason.
Incahuasi B&B in San Pedro de Atacama Whilst the rooms were excellently presented, the showers were cold (due to low mains water pressure). If you have just spent time in the Solar de Uyuni this is a major letdown. The hostel is well out of town and not easy to find. There are many places offering similar value (with hot showers) in the centre of town.
