I'm a Bulgarian living abroad and every time I go to Varna I'm amazed by how fast the city changes in a positive way. Bulgaria's citizens still don't receive European salaries and local people can't still consume import products, even if there is a real hunger for that. Otherwise Varna is a very nice holiday place with nice beaches, very nice walking central area, and intense night life. Last but not least, the prices are still very low compared to countries from the region like Greece and for the same quality, if not better.
I really like Varna and had a great time. It was good to get out of the city and I would throughly recommend it.
I am Bulgarian and live abroad, but I come every summer to Varna where I spend my summer holiday. I've always loved Varna and will always love that beautiful, gorgeous city full of life and offer everything I need for enjoying my time there. Varna for me is the most beautiful city in Bulgaria! It has amazing beaches and nearby resorts, nice greenery, a lovely Sea Garden, and is just a fantastic place to be. I love you Varna, you are the best!
Gregory's Backpackers Hostel in Varna … This place was by far the best hostel I have ever stayed. Quite a few times I forgot that I was a paying guest and that it was not one of my mate's houses. Anyway, the bar is great and the owners are fantastic. They really made me feel welcome and they were always joining in on the fun. Oh yeah, and Varna is a great place.
Gregory's Backpackers Hostel in Varna … Bloody little ripper! My younger brother and I stayed here for a few days and loved the place. Terry and Georgie were brilliant hosts, very laid back but still on the case. The hostel is in a great location as it's a little out of the city giving you a bit of the Bulgarian authenticity! If you're after a good time and a great place to visit then this is your stop! Bring your drinking shoes!
Gregory's Backpackers Hostel in Varna … We had such an amazing time in Varna and Gregory's hostel definitely made our stay! Terry and Georgie are lovely people and do everything in their power to make your stay a pleasant one! And at the same time the hostel is very laid back with a welcoming atmosphere. Through eight weeks of traveling around Europe and staying in a hostel every night, we would rate Gregory's as the best!! Loved it, Gregory's caters for everyone, will be back for sure!
Flag Varna Hostel in Varna … I stayed here in August/September 2004, and loved it — free lockers, free laundry, the friendliest staff and owner ever! When I couldn't find the supermarket he took me there himself — it's little touches like this that make a difference. Not to mention it was the cleanest and most secure hostel I have stayed in, with ace showers :-). I definitely would not stay anywhere else if I went back to Varna.
Gregory's Backpackers Hostel in Varna … Gregory's was a great experience. The owners were exceptionally helpful and the facilities were abundant! The free pickup and dropoff is obviously a plus. I felt completely secure in this village and enjoyed knocking back a few brews and hanging out with the other travelers -- when not partying in town! There are even some real live Canadians there (which are usually not the kind to travel to Eastern Europe) so you know it has to be safe for the Balkans!
Flag Varna Hostel in Varna … The Flag Hostel is great! It's the only Hostel in the Centre of Varna, surrounded by Restaurants, Bars and Clubs. It's open all year round.
If it's the sea and beautiful girls you like, then head to the beach, only ten minutes' walk. The owner of The Flag is Mike. He's cool, easy going, and will show you a different Bar, Restaurant, or Club every night. He knows all the cheap but great places to eat. For 15 Levs (about a fiver) a night, you can't go wrong. Mike even leaves the hot water on constant where other 'stingly' hostels go ape and turn it off. It's so great, I'm going to move in permanently and live there! So stop whatever you are doing and get a plane or train to Varna.
Gregory's Backpackers Hostel in Varna … I thoroughly enjoyed Gregory's Hostel in Varna. As a seasoned traveller this was the best staff I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Very helpful, free pick-ups from town, great breakfast. A must if you are in the area! In addition, this town is a great place to party at night and relax on the beach in the day. I'd definitely come back.
Flag Varna Hostel in Varna … I just got back from there, and Roy and the team run an excellent laid-back place. Great location for the beach and the clubs of Varna town.
Gregory's Backpackers Hostel in Varna … Absolutely brilliant! Whatever you like doing, from going out to ridiculous hours every night, to taking it easy and taking in the culture, Terry and Georgie will use their experience of the city to make sure you have the best time. It was difficult to leave because we made some great friends! Hostels don't come any better!!

Yo-Ho-Hostel in Varna … The hostel is right in the middle of town, behind the main church. When you enter off the street (through two locked doors, security is good) you see a lovely, nautically-themed courtyard, a peaceful retreat from the busy street outside. The hosts are great -- they invite you to join them in barbecues, drinking the local brew (a bit like ouzo, it's drunk with yogurt) and to hang out with them (and their seriously cool friends) at the sea-side park which is humming around midnight. They have a resident muso too! The dorms are comfortable and there's a well equipped kitchen downstairs. The toilets/bathrooms could do with a little renovation but overall this place rocks. They've just got a four-wheel drive vehicle which I understand they will use for tours around the area. If you're in Varna, stay here!

Flag Varna Hostel in Varna … a happy, laid back place. i stayed for a week and saw people coming through that were only going to stay a night but stayed much longer. it's clean and comfy, the showers are great with hot water all the time, free breakfast, sheets, lockers, dvd, tv, tea and coffee all day. mike is such a lovely bloke too, he has a wealth of local info that he is always ready to share with you if you wish, or show you round the sights when he has the time. The accommodation is good, the location is good, the staff and setup of the hostel is great. whether you are just passing through or fancy a cheap holiday, you won't go far wrong by using flag varna. i promise you can do a lot lot worse!
